We took our sons on a nature walk/tour with John today. What an amazing time!!! John and Erie captivated their attention the entire time. We appreciate John educating us in falconry and all of the hard work that goes into this art. Seeing and holding the barn owls were a sweet addition to our time as well. It has been... More

I booked the hawk walk as part of my husbands birthday present. To be honest I was slightly concerned by some of the reviews on here BUT I am so glad I ignored them. We had a walk with John and Bolt and I cannot recommend Killarney Faclonry highly enough. We spent a full hour engrossed in flying and then... More

This was a great oppertunity to see birds of prey both up close and in action .The children and adults were very happy with the experience .The barn owls were the favourites , as they could be handled by the children. A Great experience

We had an excellent experience during our Killarney Falconry excursion. We were even able to handle barn owls - a pleasant bonus to our trip! It was amazing to see the bird of prey in action. Our guide was very informative and answered all of our questions. It was a highlight of our trip in Ireland.

We arranged to experience falconry through our hotel and John met us with a Harris hawk which is an impressive predator. We had the opportunity to see the hawk work and we each had multiple opportunities to have him fly back to us. John then introduced us to two beautiful barn owls - 'farmers' friends who eat mice and rats'... More

A couple days before we did this, we visited the Burren Birds of Prey Centre. That place had many more types of birds and was less expensive. During the live show, people who boldly raised their hands to volunteer often got a chance to have one bird land on the volunteer's gloved hand. In comparison, the advantage of Killarney Falconry... Our trip involved spending time with one hawk and two owls. The hawk was trained to fly about 10 feet away and then immediately fly back when he saw food. You could hold the hawk on the gloved hand, which was kind of neat. This involved more standing than walking. We basically walked about 50 yards up a dirt road... More

We were a group of 6 adults visiting Ireland and I had booked the falconry experience before leaving the U.S. Every one of us enjoyed it immensely - John, our falconer, was a wonderful source of information on birds of prey and his manner was friendly, low-key and engaging. He took us on a walk through the woods and we... More

John who was our falconer on the day was great, he had a great sense of humour, was patient when you got a bit tentative, but most of all he gave us a wonderful insight into falconry and birds of prey in general. To have a bird of prey land on your hand and take food from you is an... More
