We rented a car and drove from Dublin then spent the night at a nice inn (see Loch Lein). We headed out first thing in the morning along the west side of the Ring. The view was nice as we traveled through Cahersevein. From there, upon the recommendation of the folks at the hotel, we took the car ferry to... More

FABULOUS three days of walking. Stunning, and varied scenery throughout. Highly recommended. Make sure you're prepared to walk up to about 25km per day. B&Bs along the way I chose would forward luggage for a fee to your next stop. Take them up on this, you should walk with the minmum to carry. Tips: on day 1 be careful there... More

With such a popular thing to do the roads can get busy with coaches so an early or a late in the day drive would have been the better thing to do. Weather on the Dingle side was poor for us but as we made our way around it just got better and better. This is one of those places... More

Not sure what all the fuss is about with the ring of kerry. Yes its a nice drive with some nice scenery in parts, but it is certainly not what i would call outstanding. But while in Killarney its worth the drive

Very nice scenic drive. Make sure you leave enough time to stop along the way. too many just take the drive and don't stop at the local shops, towns, bars, etc. along the way

I may have had a very different perception of the Ring of Kerry if the weather had been better. We did not do a tour but drove. If the weather is bad, it might be best to skip this. If making the drive, I recommend diverting off of the Ring of Kerry onto the Ring of Skellig. As the tour... More

There is something sublime about being out and away from society and the daily bustle of civilization that helps you reaffirm everything you love about your spouse. The Kerry way provides just what is needed to science that. My wife and I both teach, and can get lost in the day to day shuffle of lesson planning and work. Out... More

We took the advice of our guest house hostess and went anti clockwise, a great choice, no issues with buses. We also did the Skerrig ring as part of the day. the scenery is breathtaking on both parts and if you take your time (we took about 8-9 hours) you can see just about everything There are some wild and... I read other reviews about which way to drive the Ring of Kerry, and also spoke with locals before driving it. We went anti clockwise, and found this a good choice, because it is the same direction all the buses take (so you don't meet them on the narrow roads). This is an absolute MUST DO while in Ireland, as... More
