This is a wonderful place with brilliant views of the Purple mountain and the lakes. It is an enchanting road, with lots of places to pull over and take photos. Kenmare is a lovely town and has lots of super coffee shops and restaurants.

Great walk, and yes its walk, its old road no longer suitable for cars. Took us about 6 hours to do. Started near Torc and got a spin back to Torc, must do it the other way around sometime.

I can't recommend this walk highly enough. Parking in the upper Torc car park it is approx. a 5 hour walk, it can be done in less but it's nicer to take breaks and enjoy the scenery. Considering the distance you would need to organise transport back to your starting position again as it would be inadvisable to try turn... More

We entered it out of curiosity from the regular " new " road to Kenmare and it is indeed a great road to walk . It is unimaginably picturesque and beautiful and all the structures spike your imagination.

Very atmospheric, particularly with the fallen trees due to the recent storms. If driving, be very vigilant and park in the first car park on the right as the the road condition worsens and can be closed off further down the route.

Went with James Guide group, Amazing history and scenery along this moderate to strenuous Walking route. its well worth the effort, we went from Killarney to Kenmare, this is my favourite way but they say its supposed to be the other way because you are coming back with the weather. we met the Sliabh Luachra group half way.we had plenty... This has to be the best part of the Ring of Kerry although we did not do the whole thing. Many great photo op's. Worth a trip if you are in the area. We got out and walked around quite a bit on our drive from Killarney to Cork.

It commences just outside Killarney and is a fascinating walk along the old route to Kenmare. It is varied with board walks over the very wet sections. It is a one way walk and unfortunately the last section into Kenmare is a long straight road and boring. On the whole a very enjoyable 5hours.

The scenery was outstanding and the jaunting cars were great fun. It made us all want to buy property nearby.

Probably the best part of the Ring of Kerry scenic drive.. Every turn is just beautiful... Drive and enjoy the surroundings... Hills, and clouds and sheep grazing everywhere... Hills and emerald green fields everywhere.. Amazing!
