Went in on Monday night for a drink and live music, got a seat at the bar and the bar staff were so friendly. The music is every night is at 530 and 930 and is really good, exactly what we were looking for. Being Scottish it was a similar atmosphere as Scottish folk music live. Another customer knocked over... More

We fell in love with this pub while in Galway. It is very comfortable and inviting. The live local music is awesome. Jane and Johnny were very sweet and informative.

We went in for lunch while out shopping and enjoyed the pub atmosphere along with the soup and sandwich. The soup was hearty and filling, the sandwich was toasted, but just a simple ham and cheese. You can't beat it for 5.50 Euros.

Great night with a good pint, great atmosphere with great irish trad music! Highly recommended for a great night, plenty of dancing, especially if you can do a jig!!

This place is very festive. Good music, great crowd participation and friendly staff. Learn yourself some Irish drinking songs and sing a long.

We were lucky enough to get a decent spot around the corner from the first set of live music on a Friday night in November. They don't use any amplification for the music, so you'll either need to get close or hope there's not a huge group of tourists between you and the music who don't seem to care about... More

this place was so packed the night before that my husband and I decided not to venture into the fray so to speak....but we did return, looking for a quiet lunch the next day. No remnants of the previous night were apparent and our lunch was nice. I had a quick chat with one of the staff...an older man who... More

We came to Galway looking for traditional Irish music. We were advised by the bouncer at the King's Head that Taaffe's is the place. He was right. We arrived around 10:00 and us two ladies got seats at the bar close to the musicians. (Our men stood) The musicians clearly knew their stuff! A local lad got to dancing, which... More

We went to Taaffes to experience some live Irish music. We got that for sure, along with about half of Galway it seemed. Many many many people crammed into that little bar, and there were probably too many people in there. A few tiny toilets. However the pub is cute and has a great atmosphere and the music was good:-)
