Great evening

In a gorgeous church we enjoyed traditional Irish music in a phantastic atmosphere. A must if you stay in the marvelous city of Galway.

We attended this while visiting Galway this past summer...We saw a poster for the event while visiting Galway and decided to attend Tunes in the Church that night at St. Nicholas Church. What a wonderful evening it was...beautiful music and a traditional Irish dance demonstration in a beautiful historic church - at intermission a tour of the church was offered... More

Have been to several concerts here with my groups and always a great experience. The variety of musicians is fantastic and the setting is amazing. Highly recommend.

We spent the evening listening to musicians playing fiddle and a concertina, as well as watching/listening to a traditional Irish dancer. All of the performers were happy to answer questions and talk about their instruments and Irish music in general. At intermission we were given a quick tour of the church. It was a fun alternative to hearing music in... More

Visited the cathedral tonight to attend the Summer series concert. Tonight's performers were Coaimhin O Fearghail and dancer Jayne Pomplas. Fabulous show held in a 13th century cathedral. Performance was 90 minutes with a10 minute intermission where one meet the performers or take in a history tour of the cathedral. Well worth the 15 euro admission fee

We went to see them on tour in Westport and had a beautiful evening. The combination of down-to-earth Irish trad music with the "heavenly" background of Church architecture is truly magical.... And I returned home less ignorant: I now know how the Illan Pipes work - an instrument that always fascinated me :)

The venue is intimate despite being in a church. The high ceilings allow the music to soar rather than bounce around. We have been in Ireland for two weeks unsuccessfully looking for traditional Irish music. Tonight was a total success. Tunes in the Church/Galway was just wonderful. There is only one week to go. So, if you are going to... More

Traditional Irish music at its finest. The acoustics are fantastic, without the noisy crush of a crowded pub. You not only get to listen to great music, you also get to hear thoughtful comments by the musicians. There was also a brilliant performance of Sean Nos dancing to accompany the music.

Galway is a great place for traditional music - the only trick is the pubs can be absolutely packed (think mardi gras in new orleans packed) and the music starts at 9-10pm (ish) which can be a bit late for some people. The Tunes in the Church program (this was our third time attending) is wonderful for many reasons. It's... More
