On Fiona Brennan's recommendation (she was out of town) we headed to Tourist Information and met Liam for a 11 am walking tour of Galway. He was full of information about the city, its history, and provided so much background and enthusiasm we couldn't help but end up loving Galway. Those who don't take advantage of these resources must miss... More

My husband and I had the pleasure of taking a walking tour with Fiona Brennan on our first afternoon in Galway. Fiona is quite knowledgable about Galway, its history and current status. She was engaging and entertaining, answering all of our questions and recommending other venues which would be of interest to us. This was a great introduction to Galway.

great tour. Informative and entertaining at the same time. Great way for an overview of the town and identifying places to go

Rick Steves had suggested Fiona or Liam, but we had not booked either so we went to the Tourist Information office and booked a walking tour. To our delightful surprise Liam Silke was the tour guide that day. He started off the tour telling us that his goal was to make us love Galway, and he succeeded in spades. His... More

First, I would be remiss if I did not say, these free tour guides could use the money, so please do pay them a reasonable amount based on your ability. That said, we learned so much and got many tips about places to visit later, and our guide did it all with good humor. We met at Eyre Square and... More

By the time we had finished our walking tour of Galway with the Delightful Fiona, my wife and I truly felt like we had found a kindred spirit in wonderful Galway. While its true that the City Centre isn't terribly large, our stay in Galway was far richer for having walked its streets with Fiona and heard her tell so... More

My daughter was an exchange student at Galway University, in May we had a chance to visit Galway city. One of the highlights of this trip was the free walking tour. Our daughter suggested it because of it's reputation with locals, The guides are for the most part students at the university. We met in Eyre Square for a two... More

It is a great way to get a sense of the history of a place. Galway is small enough that you can cover the most important places easily while walking. And being able to interact with your tour guide and linger at spots makes it much better than a bus tour.

I called the phone number on this page around 10pm thinking I was going to get a voice mail with some information about the tour but Fiona answered the call personally! Though Fiona was all booked up in the morning we arranged a tour the next afternoon. Fiona's knowledge of the city was impressive. Her stories also provided activity suggestions... More

There are two types of walking tours in Galway which have seemed to merge into one on this website. The free walking tour is not part of this review, and is started in the Eyre Square. The Professional walking tour starts from the tourist information centre (€10 per person) with Fionna, Gerry, Liam etc is very informative. The pace is... More
