To all those genuine visitors who wrote a positive review: check out what the guide told you at this place and brace yourself for a shock. We were not a typical group of tourists; some of us had been to Ireland before and most of the others were pursuing a course called 'Irish Studies' at college. In my opinion, 99%... More

When my father and I visited the Heritage and History Museum along with Dan O'Hara's Homestead, we were pleasantly surprised by everything offered. We arrived and Nora encouraged us to go up to the Homestead because Martin had a tour group at the archeological site and would soon take them to the homestead to tell the tale of Dan O'Hara.... You really need to come here to fully appreciate this special place. So many great things to see and do here. Perfect for everyone. You will have a much better understanding of a great many things just by investing a bit of your time to stop and look and listen and learn. The staff are gloriously helpful and passionate to... We totally enjoyed our recent 2 night stay here. The location and views were wonderful. Our room was very spacious and comfortable. The gracious hospitality of the front desk staff made our stay even more enjoyable. The breakfast was delicious too with a marvelous array of choices. We also enjoyed morning walks on the serene and beautiful homestead.

Enjoyed a tour to Dan O' Hara's farm and would highly recommend it. Our guide Paula was very informative and knowledgeable. She told us the sad story of Dan O' Hara and about the life of a typical farming family in Connemara in the 19th Century and sang a few verses of the ballad of Dan O' Hara. I had... More

We elected to walk up to the homestead instead of taking the tractor bus with all the other tourists, interesting stories from the guide but more suited to a first time visitor to Ireland. Homestead and story about Dan O Hara interesting, the introductory film was very good. There is the usual gift shop and cafe at the entrance, parking... More

The movie and museum center are very informative and professionally done - But it is the recreated village huts and the actual farm that are must sees if you are in the area and like history at all. We went in the off season and had the place mostly to ourselves.

I had visited the Dan O'Hara Homestead once before many years ago and remembered the impact it had, so when I was back in the area with two new travelers to Ireland (one of whom was reading O'Flaherty's "Famine" at my suggestion) I knew I wanted them to experience it too. I was greeted by the wonderfully friendly Paula, who... More

I visited the Dan o'Hara historial site near Clifden over the weekend I was very familar with the song about the sad farmer but I never knew the history. Its worth a visit but be wary of the sales man as he took 8 euro off 5 of us to bring us up the mountian to see the house of... More
