This was a very good walk. (same as Miroslav M) The day was nice with temperate weather. Paul was very good at highlighting the safety aspects. The walk was from 11 in the morning to 4 in afternoon. It was mostly of the trail, bog moorland type. I would definitely recommend and I would like to have another walk with... More

My wife, son and I vacationed in Connemara in June. Paul Phelan of Walk Connemara (www.walkconnemara.com) led us on four hikes (three in the Twelve Bens and one on the island of Inishbofin. Paul was great; it was like hiking with an old friend. He did more than just guide us; he taught us about the local culture, history and... More

On May 20, 2015 a group of 10 Belgian people, including 2 teachers and 8 English learning students, climbed Diamond Hill with Paul Phelan. He guided us up and down the hill and made of that day one of the best memories of our Irish stay. All along the way to the top and down the hill he told us... More

It was a beautiful morning, the kind hikers’ dream of for walking in the mountains, but It was with a certain level trepidation that I/we set out to walk the Maumturk mountains in Connemara. Well I had heard so much about the “Maumturks”, of their rugged beauty, the unforgiving terrain and the difficult climbs that I was beginning to wonder... More

A group of six of us had the most fantastic hike on the Maamturks with Paul of Walk Connemara. Observing the scenery as we hiked along, I understood the word 'breathtaking' as it would literally take your breath away. Walk was perfectly paced for the group and Paul's knowledge of the flora and fauna, the geology and the local history... More

I had an excellent experience going on Paul's guided walk of Roundstone Bog. Paul is knowledgeable and accommodating as a guide and in general a very pleasant, kind person. The route he chose as well as his commentary was a very interesting introduction to the landscape and the bog's history. He also knew just the angle needed to hoist me... More

Spent last Friday and Saturday in the company of Paul Phelan and some friends. We managed 5 of the Maamturks over the two days and had a fantastic time. Paul kept us both busy and amused with many anecdotes and educated us on local geology and botany. He even kept the rain away. His expertise extended beyond the mountains as... More

Yesterday as a group of 8 people we climbed Mweelrea, the largest mountain in the Connemara region located in the west of Ireland. Paul and his mate Pete guided us up and down the mountain and made the day so enjoyable. On the way up Paul told us many different stories about the area and the people that lived there... More

We had a fantastic day out on the mweelrea horseshoe with Paul. He is an expert guide - we hit difficult navigational conditions and he demonstrated his high level of expertise. Wonderful day out. Interesting and informed anecdotes, history, geology, geography and intimate knowlegde of the beautiful and and unique Connemara landscape.
