The two hour Irish music & Irish dancing show (which takes place nightly at the pub) has been awarded "Best Dinner/Entertainment Event in Ireland" and the pub is the current "Music Pub of the Year” in Ireland. Owners and musicians, The Merry Ploughboys, have been performing together for 22 years making their show the longest running show in Ireland hosted continuously by the same performers. The pub is located about 20 minutes south of Dublin City centre with complimentary car parking. It is easily accessed by taxi or if you are staying in the city centre we recommend our shuttle transfer service (just 5.50 euro return fare). The transfer by luxury executive coach offers an elevated view of the scenic Southside of Dublin city. After the show, the coach will drop you back as close as practical to your accommodation. Reservations are essential, however online bookings for the dinner & show (and shuttle transfer if required) can be made in real-time on our own website. We operate a "ticketless" booking system. You will receive a unique booking reference number on your email receipt and our floor manager will have all your details when you arrive at the pub. « less

My sister and I took a two week trip to Europe in 2009 and by far the highlight of the experience was our evening at the Merry Ploughboy Pub. We wanted to experience traditional Irish music and dancing and the Pub's evening show offered the best of both! I bought their Live in Concert CD and still listen to it... More

Recently attended the Merry Ploughboy with my family after returning home to Dublin from Perth in Western Australia. I must say that it was a fantastic night and would recommend it to anyone wishing to experience some fantastic Irish music and true Irish hospitality. The band knew how to connect with the audience both on stage and afterwards in the... More

We went here for the dinner and show and ended up staying until the downstairs closed as well! The food was good but the entertainment was great! The band really gets the crowd involved and the show lasted much longer than i anticipated. The staff were very helpful and willing to call us a cab for our ride home. The... More

I visited the Merry Ploughboy Pub in late March of 2010 and it was arguably the highlight of my trip. We attended a Sunday night show upstairs with a group of 10 and had a wonderful 3 course meal that offered many traditional Irish dishes (I had the seafood chowder, the rosemary chicken, and an ice cream dessert - all... went to the show last Friday night, up for the weekend from Waterford and we met up with friends who had been here before. wasn't sure would it would be worth the journey from city centre but it wasn't that far (15-20 min cab ride) and we had a brilliant night out. After they have stuffed you with food (I... More

This is a fantastic show. I have not seen anything else like it in Ireland. It's a shame we don't have something like this in Galway as it really epitomises the Irish experience for both locals and tourists. I have seen this show several times and brought various groups of friends with me and I have yet to hear one... More

The Merry Ploughboy Pub has this great atmosphere of a authentic Irish pub, but in fact not too far away from Dublin City Center. We were welcomed by friendly staff and seated straightaway. The food was great, we got a chance to taste what Irish serve for Christmas. Then the band and the Irish dancers showed us some culture -... More

Great pub, party atmosphere. Food was excellent and the show very enjoyable. Met some lovely folks from around the world. The fact that we were snowed in and taxis could not reach the venue only made the evening more memorable and the "aftershow" in the bar was incredibly hospitable and fun for all those of us stranded. Thank you Merry... More

I recently had a fun night out at the Merry Ploughboy Irish Music Pub. The music was fun, the dancing was really good and the food was very nice.
