Owner description: The Merry Ploughboy is the only pub in Ireland owned and managed by musicians, and it is the 'hands on' approach from the owners that makes a visit to the Merry Ploughboy the highlight of many people's trip to Ireland. The two hour Irish music & Irish dancing show (which takes place nightly at the pub) has been awarded "Best Dinner/Entertainment Event in Ireland" and the pub is the current "Music Pub of the Year” in Ireland. Owners and musicians, The Merry Ploughboys, have been performing together for 22 years making their show the longest running show in Ireland hosted continuously by the same performers. The pub is located about 20 minutes south of Dublin City centre with complimentary car parking. It is easily accessed by taxi or if you are staying in the city centre we recommend our shuttle transfer service (just 5.50 euro return fare). The transfer by luxury executive coach offers an elevated view of the scenic Southside of Dublin city. After the show, the coach will drop you back as close as practical to your accommodation. Reservations are essential, however online bookings for the dinner & show (and shuttle transfer if required) can be made in real-time on our own website. We operate a "ticketless" booking system. You will receive a unique booking reference number on your email receipt and our floor manager will have all your details when you arrive at the pub.

What a great show they put on. If you like listening to an irish accent, you'll definitely hear it there. Donal writes alot of the songs that they sing. Whatever you do, don't leave without buying their cd's. I didn't buy any and when I got home (USA) I wished that I had. I just wanted to hear their music.... More

When we were making plans for our third vacation to Ireland I contacted a business associate in Dublin and asked him what I should do this time. He recommended the Merry Ploughboy. He told me he takes all his friends and business associates there when they visit him in Dublin. So, with a recommendation like that I booked the night... More

We had a very enjoyable "Irish" evening at the Merry Ploughboy. The meal was great and so was the entertainment, the only complaint that I have is that we were at the end of the table farthest from the stage and we couldn't see the legs of the dancers as they did the jig! All the other diners were in... More

We had a wonderful time at the show! My wife and I truly enjoyed the music and dancing. The food was pretty good, but about what you would expect when they are feeding 100+ people at a time. Overall, I would recommend it if you are spending some time in Dublin. Definitely take advantage of the transport option. It is... More

The Merry ploughboy has a really welcoming staff and this is a great experience if you want to discover irish traditional dances and musiques. The decoration of the restaurant is really nice and the food amazing! The venue suggests an irish dinner (dinner starting at 7.30pm) and a show finishing at 10.30pm. You will even have a bus transfer organised... More

Worth every penny - what an evening! The pub is outside the city so make sure you also book the coach transfer, which was efficient and made getting there and back so easy. Pick up was at 18:45 and we left the pub at about 22:35, getting back into Dublin just after 23:00. The muscians and dancers were great, and... More

Our family was touring Ireland and wanted to attend a good Irish Dinner Show. We all agreed this to be the best choice, and it was. We found everything was excellent which includes; internet reservations, food service, Irish music and dance, and especially the friendliness of the entire staff. If we had more time, probably would have made a return... More
