The two hour Irish music & Irish dancing show (which takes place nightly at the pub) has been awarded "Best Dinner/Entertainment Event in Ireland" and the pub is the current "Music Pub of the Year” in Ireland. Owners and musicians, The Merry Ploughboys, have been performing together for 22 years making their show the longest running show in Ireland hosted continuously by the same performers. The pub is located about 20 minutes south of Dublin City centre with complimentary car parking. It is easily accessed by taxi or if you are staying in the city centre we recommend our shuttle transfer service (just 5.50 euro return fare). The transfer by luxury executive coach offers an elevated view of the scenic Southside of Dublin city. After the show, the coach will drop you back as close as practical to your accommodation. Reservations are essential, however online bookings for the dinner & show (and shuttle transfer if required) can be made in real-time on our own website. We operate a "ticketless" booking system. You will receive a unique booking reference number on your email receipt and our floor manager will have all your details when you arrive at the pub. « less

Dinner and show by the Merry Ploughboy. The dinner was very good and the Merry Ploughboy sang Irish Folk songs. Between the music sets there was traditional Irish dancing. If you are in Dublin, I recommend a stop at the Merry Ploughboy Pub.

We have seen the Merry Ploughboys perform three times. Each performance is of consistent good quality and well-organized. The band members are invitational with the audience and do a good job of catering to individuals and/or groups. Our last performance was attended by a large group of Spanish men--who seemed more interested in themselves than the music, but the band... More

We attended the show on New Year’s Eve, and while we enjoyed the dinner and the show, we do have a few recommendations: This show was more expensive than the regular shows. On the internet they had posted a special four course dinner for that evening that included a choice of ham and a different dessert, a bread pudding that... More

Many thanks for your feedback. On a positive note it's good to hear you wanted more rather than less of the show! But to address your specific points: The change in the menu referred on New Year's Eve involved just one of the four mains - the turkey & ham dish which was replaced by our free range chicken dish.... With a #1 ranking on Tripadvisor we had to book this evening for our Dublin trip. $49.50 Euros for the dinner and show and $5.50 Euros for the roundtrip transportation from our hotel steps. For us Americans this was an incredible value and were excited to go. The driver picked us up exactly on time and within 15 minutes we... More

I went to the Merry Ploughboy on Friday September 27, 2013 (sorry for writing this so late). I have been to Ireland nine times, but I still manage to find new places I have not been to. Over the last three summers I have been to many Irish Music Shows like this (Dublin, Donegal Town, Killarney, and Galway). I was... More

Had a great time listening to traditional Irish music favorites and talented dancers! Food was good and plenty! The staff were great at including the customers in the music and dancing (plan a trip to the bathroom if you don't want to dance!).

My wife and I have brought close to 20 visitors from the States to the Merry Ploughboy. We've never come away disappointed. The guys bring their A-game every night and leave people who are looking for proper Irish entertainment fully satisfied. If it's your first time in Dublin, or you're just looking for good craic in the Dublin hills, you... More

I recently attended this dinner and show with 5 friends and have to say it was one of the best nights we've had. The experience right from booking with Imelda who sorted out all our dietary requirements and transport advice, to the waiting staff who were the friendliest I've ever met. The show was great fun with a little bit... More

30 of us descended on the Merry Plougboy for a Saturday evening's entertainment (16 Nov 13). We were ushered upstairs and sat at two long tables. There were more than sufficent waiting staff and as soon as we were seated we had ordered drinks and when the first drink arrived they took our food order. Food was excellent, no complaints... More

Eatable food, but no more. The show is repetetive and not engaging. Feels like something for older folkes. I would recommend going to an ordinary pub instead. There you would find a more genuine atmosphere.

We are sorry you didn't enjoy your night at the show, it presumably wasn't your "cup of tea". Based on their reaction to the performance, I think it would be fair and reasonable to say that the vast majority of people in the room on the same night as you found the performance very engaging. The age profile and the... More
