Description: The Merry Ploughboy is the only pub in Ireland owned and managed by...
The Merry Ploughboy is the only pub in Ireland owned and managed by musicians, and it is the 'hands on' approach from the owners that makes a visit to the Merry Ploughboy the highlight of many people's trip to Ireland. The two hour Irish music & Irish dancing show (which takes place nightly at the pub) has been awarded "Best Dinner/Entertainment Event in Ireland" and the pub is the current "Music Pub of the Year” in Ireland. Owners and musicians, The Merry Ploughboys, have been performing together for 22 years making their show the longest running show in Ireland hosted continuously by the same performers. The pub is located about 20 minutes south of Dublin City centre with complimentary car parking. It is easily accessed by taxi or if you are staying in the city centre we recommend our shuttle transfer service (just 5.50 euro return fare). The transfer by luxury executive coach offers an elevated view of the scenic Southside of Dublin city. After the show, the coach will drop you back as close as practical to your accommodation. Reservations are essential, however online bookings for the dinner & show (and shuttle transfer if required) can be made in real-time on our own website. We operate a "ticketless" booking system. You will receive a unique booking reference number on your email receipt and our floor manager will have all your details when you arrive at the pub.

We went to the Merry Ploughboy as part of a bus tour. At first we anticipated a canned, slightly Disney version of an Irish Pub (which isn't a bad thing.) We LOVED our dinner and the band and dancers were amazing (so much we bought a CD!) It's a truly fun evening.

A dinner cum music night which gives a first timer from non Irish background a good sense of Irish Music. The drive to the place on outskirts of Dublin is very picturesque. The place laid out, the food is a bit iffy though. But music and Irish dancers...well they are the best you will get when you compare it with... More

This was such a wonderful start to our Irish vacation that it set the tone for fun. The food was delicious, and all locally grown and harvested. The entertainment was fantastic! From the four men singing ballads and playing instruments (both original Irish and traditional guitar) to the local youth who danced Irish step dancing, it was an evening we... More

We had dinner here as part of our Ireland holiday with CIE tours. It was a fantastic evening - the food was excellent, as was the service. Of course the real highlight of the evening was the performance by The Merry Ploughboys. Highly recommend if you are visiting Dublin!

Accidentally I stumbled into 'The Merry Ploughboy' last Sunday actually just to have a pint. The pub was quite empty however I felt welcome and it was cosy and staff was very friendly. When we were about to leave we wondered what was upstairs and stumbled into the large room where they have their show. The room was fully crowded... More

Great menu in terms of choice, especially for vegetarians. Food is delicious, fresh and very well presented. Staff are friendly and the setting very relaxing. My only ever so slight criticism is the piped music was a little too loud. Will definitely return. Very happy customer 😀

Our lovely evening started even before we got to the venue. We booked our transfer through their website from Dublin City Centre for around 7 euros each and the 4 of us were picked up in a mini van by Seamus who proceeded to tell us all about Dublin's history as we wove through the busy traffic. He was very... More

We visited as part of an organised tour outing. I had read some good reviews of the place and I must say that they were all spot on. Friendly staff, excellent live traditional Irish music and dancing and to cap it all a tasty and generously portioned meal. The apple pie is the best ever !! An excellent evening's entertainment... My husband, myself, and our sons, ages 12 and 17, visited the Merry Ploughboy on Sunday, June 14th for the 8:30 show. We're big fans of Irish music and we've seen lots of live Irish traditional music over the years, as well as heard many pub bands in Los Angeles-- Everyone from the Chieftans to the Young Dubliners to random...
