Description: The Merry Ploughboy is the only pub in Ireland owned and managed by...
The Merry Ploughboy is the only pub in Ireland owned and managed by musicians, and it is the 'hands on' approach from the owners that makes a visit to the Merry Ploughboy the highlight of many people's trip to Ireland. The two hour Irish music & Irish dancing show (which takes place nightly at the pub) has been awarded "Best Dinner/Entertainment Event in Ireland" and the pub is the current "Music Pub of the Year” in Ireland. Owners and musicians, The Merry Ploughboys, have been performing together for 22 years making their show the longest running show in Ireland hosted continuously by the same performers. The pub is located about 20 minutes south of Dublin City centre with complimentary car parking. It is easily accessed by taxi or if you are staying in the city centre we recommend our shuttle transfer service (just 5.50 euro return fare). The transfer by luxury executive coach offers an elevated view of the scenic Southside of Dublin city. After the show, the coach will drop you back as close as practical to your accommodation. Reservations are essential, however online bookings for the dinner & show (and shuttle transfer if required) can be made in real-time on our own website. We operate a "ticketless" booking system. You will receive a unique booking reference number on your email receipt and our floor manager will have all your details when you arrive at the pub.

My husband, myself, and our sons, ages 12 and 17, visited the Merry Ploughboy on Sunday, June 14th for the 8:30 show. We're big fans of Irish music and we've seen lots of live Irish traditional music over the years, as well as heard many pub bands in Los Angeles-- Everyone from the Chieftans to the Young Dubliners to random... What a fantastic way to spend our last night in Ireland! We were left wanting more of the entertainment although it lasted the full time we were there (about 3 hrs.). The Merry Plough Boy band was wonderful Irish music and they engaged the audience so well. Their singing was beautiful and a few of their songs brought me to... More

Dinner itself far exceeded my expectations. The music and the dancing was outstanding and I was very impressed with the service given that they had a packed house. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a traditional Irish meal and entertainment!

We had an adult family and friends group of 13. Everyone loved it! The food was delicious! We were all pleasantly surprised and honestly didn't expect it to be as good as it was! It really was one of our best meals in Ireland! Their homemade apple pie dessert is to die for :) Then came the entertainment...The Merry Ploughboys...they... More

We didn't book our reservation until the day of the show... and our seats were the worst in the house (understandably). I pulled my chair up so I could see the other half of the stage, and problem solved! The food was surprisingly good for this type of venue, and we loved the dancing and music. Worth the drive!

A bit different thoughts than most of the other reviews. Overall a lot they do well - very organized, the food is good, service good, transportation works well. The thing we found disappointing was the music and show itself wasn't all that good. Very much lacked energy, seemed like the musicians were going through the motions. There is much better... More

Yes this does seem to cater to the tour bus crowd (we were part of it) and no I didn't believe the locals all go here.. but we had a great time with good food and entertainment. I ordered the chicken, tasted my hubs beef and wished I had ordered it! the food was good, the service was good for... More

What a great night. Just the right amount of cheesiness. The food was fantastic and I really wasn't expecting that off something so "themey" but it's definately worth the long trip out. We were there with a large group and everyone raved about their meal. By the time the apple pie came for dessert it was definately that time of... More

Although the food was good and plentiful, I just could not get into the music and felt the dancing was not up to the standard I had seen at another show. The venue was full of tour buses and they all seemed to enjoy it, but I did not. After being picked up at 6:30 for the ride out and... More

Merry Ploughboys is, in my opinion, one of the top sightseeing venues in Ireland. While staying in Dublin, take the opportunity to enjoy a special evening of good food, great music, Irish dancers, and craic. We opted to include their round trip shuttle service in the cost, and are so glad we did. I've driven there several times and always... More
