The Merry Ploughboy is the only pub in Ireland owned and managed by musicians, and it is the 'hands on' approach from the owners that makes a visit to the Merry Ploughboy the highlight of many people's trip to Ireland. The two hour Irish music & Irish dancing show (which takes place nightly at the pub) has been awarded "Best Dinner/Entertainment Event in Ireland" and the pub is the current "Music Pub of the Year" in Ireland. Owners and musicians, The Merry Ploughboys, have been performing together for 25 years making their show the longest running show in Ireland hosted continuously by the same performers. The pub is located about 20 minutes south of Dublin City centre with complimentary car parking. It is easily accessed by taxi or if you are staying in the city centre we recommend our shuttle transfer service (just 7.50 euro return fare). The transfer by luxury executive coach offers an elevated view of the scenic Southside of Dublin city. After the show, the coach will drop you back as close as practical to your accommodation. Reservations are essential, however online bookings for the dinner & show (and shuttle transfer if required) can be made in real-time on our own website. We operate a "ticketless" booking system. You will receive a unique booking reference number on your email receipt and our floor manager will have all your details when you arrive at the pub.

Came with family and friends. We had a fantastic night. The entertainment was brilliant, the food was fantastic and the service just topped it all off. It was the second visit for some and when we're back for the rugby next year we'll come again!

Everything you'd want from a night in Dublin. Brilliant musicians, brilliant music, brilliant Irish dancers and brilliant craic. Can't rate it highly enough. Definitely go if you get the chance.

We were in Ireland as part of a pilgrimage tour group and this was the site for our farewell dinner. We were shown to the large upper room and seated at long tables. Our group of 60+ only filled the hall half way! Following a very tasty dinner (I had lamb shank while my wife had chicken) and a few... More

What a fantastic experience. True entertainment by the musicians - not only music but also many funny stories. The music took place in two sesdions. In between was river dance, which although quite monotonous you have to accept the outstanding performance - it was great to see and the duration was fine. We got a 3 course meal and normally... This pub features a terrific show with traditional Irish music and dancing. The music was grand and even moving at times. The rendition of Danny Boy was as emotional as one might expect. The stories with their insight into Irish culture were also enjoyable. The terrific personalities of the gentlemen on stage made for a warm, enjoyable atmosphere. The dancers... More

This place is run by musicians, so music plays a big part. Upstairs is where they do the Irish dancing as a dinner package. Downstairs is a large restaurant which does excellent food. There is usually a ballad singer, but he is difficult to hear above the noise level from people having a good time.
