Owner description: The Merry Ploughboy is the only pub in Ireland owned and managed by musicians, and it is the 'hands on' approach from the owners that makes a visit to the Merry Ploughboy the highlight of many people's trip to Ireland. The two hour Irish music & Irish dancing show (which takes place nightly at the pub) has been awarded "Best Dinner/Entertainment Event in Ireland" and the pub is the current "Music Pub of the Year” in Ireland. Owners and musicians, The Merry Ploughboys, have been performing together for 22 years making their show the longest running show in Ireland hosted continuously by the same performers. The pub is located about 20 minutes south of Dublin City centre with complimentary car parking. It is easily accessed by taxi or if you are staying in the city centre we recommend our shuttle transfer service (just 5.50 euro return fare). The transfer by luxury executive coach offers an elevated view of the scenic Southside of Dublin city. After the show, the coach will drop you back as close as practical to your accommodation. Reservations are essential, however online bookings for the dinner & show (and shuttle transfer if required) can be made in real-time on our own website. We operate a "ticketless" booking system. You will receive a unique booking reference number on your email receipt and our floor manager will have all your details when you arrive at the pub.

We got into Dublin on the day we usually celebrate our Thanksgiving, and had booked this for the evening. The food was terrific (loved everything!!!) and they accommodated a vegetarian request with excellent food as well. The music was fun with several sing-alongs and the dancing, particularly by the male dancer, was highly entertaining! It was a terrific way to... More

Last night in Ireland so went to this place as advertised in the hotel foyer. Was further than expected as I was staying in the Temple Bar area in Dublin. The reception booked it for me and I had to meet the courtesy bus transfer at a local bus stop near Trinity College. Transfer was on time, though it's a... More

This place was so entertaining. I bought one of their CDs to take back to the USA so my friend could hear the Merry Ploughboys sing. The food was good and the service was better.

We were part of a group of 9 who made arrangements including reservations in advance. Reserved early enough to ask for a table by the stage and while all locations are great being closer didn't hurt when I was selected to dance with the Irish Dancers. The program lasts for two hours with great Irish Music and Dance. A must... More

We go to the Plough all the time when I come home from America to visit my family. We live in walking distance from the pub. It's always a great night up stairs with traditional Irish music and dancing. Usually a set menu. On my last night before heading back to the states we always have dinner down stairs which... More

I've booked online on their site. Everything was smooth, the shuttle bus was on time, the location perfect, how they could manage such a crowd, with every order being delt in a timely manner I really don't know. The food is traditional and very tasty, the seefood chowder, the seetrout and the best apple pie I've ever had were really... More

The service was excellent. I ordered a martini and it was fabulous. The food was good and the band was funny. Irish dancers were entertaining too. One recommendation, after the band and the dancers, they should end the evening. People were getting tired and started going downstairs or outside when the band came on again.

I attended this show on Saturday October 4, 2014. I had also seen the show in 2013 on my last trip to Ireland. The show I attended this year was just awesome. I got picked up in the city center of Dublin by bus. The food was awesome. I had seafood chowder, Guinness Stew, and apple pie. The music was... More
