We had a wonderful welcome to Dublin from Bob, a volunteer with the ‘city of a thousand welcomes’ program and can highly recommend it. We spent an absorbing and highly enjoyable time with Bob, ranging across many topics. This is our first visit to Ireland and we are eager to experience the culture and history. Bob is exceedingly well informed... More

This is the best program! We had great conversation with our host, Roger, and felt like old friends by the end of our time together. We have been telling our friends about "Meet a Dubliner" and many have said they hope to get to Ireland soon and will definitely give this a try.

Amazing! It´s so nice somebody had this idea, to let tourists meet Dubliners :) We meet an ambassador called Anne Hennesy, she was wonderful, gave us lot of recomendations (also for a wonderful place to eat - KC Peaches, thanks so muh for that one!) and made us feel welcome. Thanks again for doing this, nice start of our vacation... More

It is such a nice way to learn about the city you are visiting! We were two friends and we were paired with a Dubliner! We went to take a beer for a bit more than 2hours! (I think the length really depends on how many questions you have and if the conversation flows easily!). It was great to be... More

We had a great visit with Joe through City of a Thousand Welcomes. We met at the museum and walked down Grafton Street to a Pub to get a pint together. I loved hearing about Dublin from a local that obviously loved his city. He had great ideas and suggestions for us on our time in the city as well... More

We visited Dublin in May 2015. We saw this opportunity via the Internet and thought it was a nice idea. We met our local ambassador Brian and he took us for tea at the Merrion Hotel. Brian is a wonderful ambassador for Dublin city and we so enjoyed meeting him. Brian was a wealth of information and wisdom and a... More

This is a brilliant idea to organise meetings with locals. How else can one get to know Ireland from the inside if not by having a conversation with a local? A very noteworthy thing is that ambassadors are picked according to your sphere of interests. You can choose between going to a pub or to a cafe to have a... More

I wish more cities offered a service like this! My ambassador took me to The Cellar bar at a fancy hotel, and we each had a pint of beer. We spent a couple of hours there, where he shared some sightseeing ideas and answered any questions I had. For a solo travel (who's a bit on an introvert), this was... More

A small taste of the real Dublin. I think we came across the idea whilst researching our trip on Tripadvisor. We went as a couple and although it isn't clear from their website, that's fine, and Joe, our friendly guide and companion said families also book occasionally. We met Joe at reception after a short visit to the Little Museum... More

Booked this meeting online, having found them through the Irish Tourist Board. They are based in The Little Museum at St Stephens Green and you are taken for either a drink in the Porterhouse, which brews its own beer and stout, or the Merrion Hotel for sandwiches and tea/coffee. We went to the Porterhouse. The gentleman who we met was... More
