Description: The Stags Head is a historical Dublin pub featured in Dublin Pub tours...
The Stags Head is a historical Dublin pub featured in Dublin Pub tours renowned for it's hospitality and famous pint of Guinness! You truly capture a sense of the hidden Ireland when you accidentally stumble upon The Stag’s Head. Finding it is akin to discovering a rare treasure as it is concealed through a narrow passageway off Dame Street, although access can also be gained through Exchequer Street or Georges Street. When you enter inside this feeling of discovered booty is greatly intensified as a virtual paradise of culture and old world values confronts you. This is probably Dublin’s best preserved Victorian pub - and everything here is of authentic Victorian origin. Take time to look around and savour the sumptuously carved Victorian mahogany fittings, the mosaic marble tiled floors and granite tabletops. Visiting the Stag’s Head is a wondrous experience wether you call when the premises is cosy, warm and glowing at night time, or in early morning when this is old repository of liquid culture is radiantly illuminated by wafts of sunlight filtering through the stained glass windows. The mahogany bar, capped with red Connemara marble, follows the classic Victorian architectural pattern, being long and punctuated by exquisite partitions that divide into private compartments or stalls.

Was there for the marriage referendum celebrations, great atmosphere standing outside on fine evenings, nice to sit inside on colder evenings. Was crazy busy but bar staff did sterling job getting everyone served and even had time for banter. Great atmosphere at weekends and more cosy atmosphere during the week.

We stopped in for lunch and we're able to seat ourselves into a corner without a wait. Our food was very good, especially the spicy cauliflower soup. It all came out piping hot. Our server was quick and friendly. We enjoyed spending an hour here listening to the locals at the bar and taking in the dark wood paneling. The... More

this must have been quite a high class place back in the day. it is all very ornate. grab a pint and just look around at the ceiling and fixtures. I enjoy seeing this place each time I am in Dublin. i wish irish pubs outside of Ireland were like this.

If you are in dublin on a Friday or Saturday night the house band that play here will make your night for you. Downstairs gets very crowded so my recommendation is to book a table and arrive early (around 9pm) once you have and area for your coats and pints, dance the night away. Service is slower downstairs because the... More

We have been visiting the Stags Head for many years--the interior is great--including a Stags Head!! We had lunch--the seafood chowder was very creamy--tasted good. If you want see an original pub then this is a place to visit.

Great traditional interior decor and architecture, bustling atmosphere where seats were hard to come by. Table service was good and negated the need to jostle at the bar. Guinness was creamy and bar snacks (wedges, sausages etc) were tasty. Could have spent more time but we had a train to catch. If you want 'traditional', Irish' and 'lively', this is... More

Nice bar in Dame Lane. Better spot to head than Temple Bar for a few pints and chats with friends. Lots of free activities here (comedy, music) on certain nights. The main draw back is that the bar staff can be a bit rude here at times.

Was in Dublin for only 2 nights. Visited this bar as it was local and had the right 'shape' trip advisor results. Was not disappointed at all, a lovely bar, even went back the 2nd night for some more. Nice bar, reasonable prices and friendly staff. Will be back!
