Description: The Stags Head is a historical Dublin pub featured in Dublin Pub tours...
The Stags Head is a historical Dublin pub featured in Dublin Pub tours renowned for it's hospitality and famous pint of Guinness! You truly capture a sense of the hidden Ireland when you accidentally stumble upon The Stag’s Head. Finding it is akin to discovering a rare treasure as it is concealed through a narrow passageway off Dame Street, although access can also be gained through Exchequer Street or Georges Street. When you enter inside this feeling of discovered booty is greatly intensified as a virtual paradise of culture and old world values confronts you. This is probably Dublin’s best preserved Victorian pub - and everything here is of authentic Victorian origin. Take time to look around and savour the sumptuously carved Victorian mahogany fittings, the mosaic marble tiled floors and granite tabletops. Visiting the Stag’s Head is a wondrous experience wether you call when the premises is cosy, warm and glowing at night time, or in early morning when this is old repository of liquid culture is radiantly illuminated by wafts of sunlight filtering through the stained glass windows. The mahogany bar, capped with red Connemara marble, follows the classic Victorian architectural pattern, being long and punctuated by exquisite partitions that divide into private compartments or stalls.

Recommended by our walking tour guide, this authentic Irish Pub was a wonderful place to enjoy a pint of Guiness and some Irish whiskey. In a central location, near the Temple Bar, but much more reasonably priced. Filled with local residents.

It is not only the place which is really nice and warm but also the people you meet there. It will be the patrons at the next table or like tonight the waiter Ruairi who not only serves you an amazing Irish coffee but also gives you awesome tips for off-the-tracks visits, all that topped off with a huge smile,... One of Dublin’s oldest pubs and which still retains much of its Victorian interior. There are some lovely stained glass windows and there was a good atmosphere inside the pub on the day of our visit, we had a bar snack of chips and dips which was very nice and quite reasonably priced. Well worth the time and effort to... More

We were wandering around Dublin trying to get out of rain. So we figured a pint in this nice Pub would do. There was a tour group eating lunch and other tourists seemed to be targeting the place. Great traditional ales and the food, excellent, particularly the beef cooked in Guinness with mashed potatoes on top. Extremely good so we... More

I visited this pub as part of a large group. We booked space in advance on an upper floor. The venue has real character. Service of both food and drinks was friendly and efficient.

My husband and I went on a pub crawl according to a PBS documentary we watched called Historic Pubs of Dublin hosted by Frank McCourt, author of Angela's Ashes (my most favorite book). This pub was visited by Frank in the documentary. We went there 2 times during our stay in Dublin. It is beautiful inside with amazing stained glass... More

Exactly what a pub should be, been here twice now and love it. Great beer selection and it still hasn't felt too touristy to me, surprising because it's right in temple bar. This is the last bar in going to visit in Ireland and I don't think id have it any other way.

We stopped in with some friends for lunch and we had a lovely meal. This is the perfect place to hideaway for a bite, a pint, or a whiskey. It is a lovely serene atmosphere mid-day. And the service was exceptional!
