You truly capture a sense of the hidden Ireland when you accidentally stumble upon The Stag’s Head. Finding it is akin to discovering a rare treasure as it is concealed through a narrow passageway off Dame Street, although access can also be gained through Exchequer Street or Georges Street. When you enter inside this feeling of discovered booty is greatly intensified as a virtual paradise of culture and old world values confronts you. This is probably Dublin’s best preserved Victorian pub - and everything here is of authentic Victorian origin. Take time to look around and savour the sumptuously carved Victorian mahogany fittings, the mosaic marble tiled floors and granite tabletops. Visiting the Stag’s Head is a wondrous experience wether you call when the premises is cosy, warm and glowing at night time, or in early morning when this is old repository of liquid culture is radiantly illuminated by wafts of sunlight filtering through the stained glass windows. The mahogany bar, capped with red Connemara marble, follows the classic Victorian architectural pattern, being long and punctuated by exquisite partitions that divide into private compartments or stalls. « less

Pricey pint and not enough bar staff on. Waiting forever to get served. That's the second time in a month so not a once off.

Pat and the Staff at the Stag's Head provided us with a truly hands on experience of Dublin hospitality. My friends and I look forward to visiting again next year.

This is a very famous, cozy pub, in the heart of Dublin. They do serve food, although I just stopped in for a pint. Very relaxing and quiet on a weekday afternoon. A good place to sit down and zone out, after cruising the shops and museums. Look for it!

Great Victorian bar with dark wood and stuffed Stag's Head over the bar. Just off Dame street near Dublin Castle. Also serves food but a great place for a drink by the bar as you read your paper.

Maybe it was just us.. but we really struggled to find this bar. However, it was well worth the effort! The atmosphere was wonderful. The staff was very friendly, funny and had great recommendations. The comedy is what drew us in and it did not disappoint! Make sure to show up early as seating is limited downstairs for the show.... More

Love this place. One of the best in Dublin. Had a great lunch there too. You might have to ask directions but it is worth it.

For a meeting up pub in the heart of Dublin, with a Dub atmosphere and plenty of craic, the Stags head is a must. Few bars have retained the intricate detail and charm through the boom but the Dtags Head remains a local favourite. Good Guinness and a great place on Dame Lane on a warm night when the street... We love this place. As Americans, this is what we want. To experience classic, quintessential old Dublin. It's a gorgeous bar. The staff was very friendly. We found our pub food excellent and our Guinness was smooth. Yeah- there were a bunch of us tourists. So what? I don't care if locals aren't there. Total Zen for us.

I really liked the place inside with a very interesting decoration and the stag's head inside and thought the guiness tasted even better than the one you have on the bar of the Guinness storehouse. Try to go in the afternoon when it's not so busy
