Collins Barracks is an interesting place. Especially enjoyed the commemoration wall and area behind the museum, where 1916 uprising leaders are buried. We happened to walk up there for a visit early morning May 17, when President Michael Higgins, as well as the Prime Minister and other dignitaries were in attendance to lay a wreath of commemoration to the defense... Nice place, in out of the weather. Displays of a historic nature which all the family may find interesting, maybe not all at the same time do! Tasty little restaurant too. Easy to get to between tram & open top bus service. The site itself has a lot of historic relevance if you feel any connection to Irish History? More

alot of reading, and walking here. some of it was too far back for me but others with me enjoyed it. Loved looking and going through 1916 rising section, Patrick Pearse's letter written the day before execution. More
