This was one of the best tours we did whilst in Dublin. It was 6 euros to enter and take the guide led tour. It was incredibly interesting as I didn't know about the jail or the history behind it. My husband and I visited the Kilmainham Goal in the beginning of October 2009. It's just outside of Dublin, but is a stop on the 'Hop on, Hop off' busses and I believe I read in a past review you can get there on the city bus for 1 euro 80. You can only tour the jail be guided tour... more

this tour is great for painting a picture of how Dublin came to be how it is today. As we were here during the vote for the Lisbon treaty, it gave a whole new depth to the vote. more

Our guide, Lorcan Collins, is a witty, passionate walking encyclopedia of Irish Revolutionary History. I highly recommend you also go on the 1916 Rising Walking Tour. I believe they still meet at the International Bar near Trinity College/Temple Bar. The cost is very affordable and so worth every euro. more
