This is an excellent attraction and well worth a look. it was the best day for me during my stay in dublin and at only 6 euro per adult it is the cheapest day by far! Despite it being a cold wet day the tour guide made the tour fascinating and very informative. more

The tour through Kilmainham Gaol should not be missed! It is worth the trip outside of the city center. (Kilmainham Gaol is across from the Hilton.) The guided tour offers not only an amazing trip through this often-filmed prison but also an excellent insight into Ireland's fight for independence. more

This was one of the best tours we did whilst in Dublin. It was 6 euros to enter and take the guide led tour. It was incredibly interesting as I didn't know about the jail or the history behind it. It was the best value for money tour we took, our guide was brillaint and the museum was really interesting.... more

I thought this was a fantastic visitor experience and very good value compared to some of the more commercial offerings in Dublin. Makes a real change to have a historical building that has been sympathetically restored to its original condition as opposed to being turned into a theme park type experience. It must have been tempting to put models of... more

My husband and I visited the Kilmainham Goal in the beginning of October 2009. It's just outside of Dublin, but is a stop on the 'Hop on, Hop off' busses and I believe I read in a past review you can get there on the city bus for 1 euro 80. You can only tour the jail be guided tour... more

this tour is great for painting a picture of how Dublin came to be how it is today. As we were here during the vote for the Lisbon treaty, it gave a whole new depth to the vote. more

Our guide, Lorcan Collins, is a witty, passionate walking encyclopedia of Irish Revolutionary History. I highly recommend you also go on the 1916 Rising Walking Tour. I believe they still meet at the International Bar near Trinity College/Temple Bar. The cost is very affordable and so worth every euro. more

The guide we had was excellent. (August 2009) He was very passionate about what he was telling us. I had never heard of the gaol or the uprising! I will be reading about this historical place and the events that happened there. What a sad place that is now a learning place, thanks to volunteers. Don't miss this if you... more

Kilmainham is unbelievable. It's like a lot of other gaols you can tour BUT Kilmainham has a lot more to offer on the human side. The tour guides are great they are really passionate about what they are talking about. Instead of just learning about criminals and the conditions you get to hear about all different people that fought for... more

Our family visited the gaol during our vacation in Dublin this past summer. We spent a lot ot fime prior to our visit researching the 1916 Easter Rising. Seeing where the prisoners were kept was an eye opening experience. Just as eye opening was hearing the differing opinions concerning Collins and DeValera. An intense sadness permeates the atmosphere of the... more
