A very 'spit-and-sawdust' type of establishment that is a magnet to many tourists. It is the famed bar where the Irish folk group 'The Dubliners' were formed in 1962. Nowadays, there is traditional music performed each night by locals in the form of a jamming session. For that reason, it is a bit of pot luck as to the experience... More

Went last night . Very very disappointed with the bar and especially barman ,who was a bit of a sneer and commenting about 2 girls that came in. He proceeded to laugh at thier weight and joked with another man outside counter. We ordered our drinks and guinness was absolutely disgusting, compared with other bars. Toilets were filthly and general bar... More

O'Donoghue's was highly recommended by locals. Although not a large place, the bar has a great selection of beer and spirits. On a nightly basis, you can hear Irish musicians jam traditional Irish tunes.... Truly and amazing and authentic experience.

I think that your experience of this place will depend largely on the act playing at that time, assuming that you're going for the music. This place was recommended to us by a local who conceded that it could be touristy but thought it featured good music. I can't say that I was wowed by the experience, but I'd be... More

This was our first trip to Ireland from Australia. We were doing some research on where my mother was born in Ireland and as a playing musician, I wanted the complete "musical and Irish" experience. We were not disappointed in any way! From the beautiful welcome from Carol (who also sorted out our parking issue - thanks a million, Carol!)... More

Went to hear traditional Irish music but as it is available in only one room which was crammed with people my purpose was frustrated. It's a Dubllin pub neither more nor less, nothing special if if you can't hear the music. Beer and other tourists were there but I wanted more. May try again before I leave to see if... More

Great old rambling pub with live Irish Music in the front bar, grand selection of beverages, zillions of photos of the famous & almost-famous & a really popular spot in the old town

Gets a little crowded on the weekends but great for pints with firends. Lots of live music going on. Good location and taxi stand right outside. Not for families with kids.

Maybe we were having an off night, but I had an awful time here. Ended up leaving having heard no music, not being able to get a drink, and experiencing a terribly rude fellow patron (leading to us leaving pretty quickly, I don't need that.) Maybe because we were international visitors she felt she could slam on us out of... More

This is one pub you can't afford to miss when visiting Dublin. With live traditional music to enjoy and take part in while to enjoy a good pint of the black stuff (Guinness). Staff are very friendly and pub has a fantastic atmosphere ... A. Definite on your list of places to. Is it.
