I always try to fit in a night at the Forge when the missus and I get to Donegal. It is usually a highlight of our trip. We were there again last weekend and we got the usual hearty welcome form the owners and locals. It's so easy to fit in at the Forge. Everyone is friendly and everyone is... More

Great pup for a pint and catching up with friends. Good atmosphere and beer. Can be a bit tight for space on a busy night but enjoyable.

Decor is the usual bought by-the -donkeyload diddely-eye tat, now the standard in "Genuine Irish Pubs". After two overpriced and sour pints of Guinness, had the misfortune to need the gents. No need for signs: follow your nose. The back third of the pub smells "convenient". Even after returning to our spot near the front, it was still present. Unlike... More

Spent two fabulous nights here with our good friends, Paul and Jayne from Bristol. Mine-host, John was a genuinely lovely guy who made us feel so welcome. We also met a great couple (Neil and Liz from Newcastle) and on our last night there we we're lucky enough to be entertained by four local lads who sang and played us... More

Had a great pint of Guinness and some good company. John the barman and owner was very welcoming, music on a Wednesday. Went two nights running.

Just back from three days in Donegal read reviews about Joe and the Forge before going and boy did it live up to its review. Spent two of the three nights here, first one was spiced up by the best dressed guitar player in town [shout out for Niall] and a performance poet from Hull who made the night with... More

My friend and I were driving across Ireland and stopped in Donegal. It was such a beautiful town and we had to go exploring. After having dinner we popped down to this pub randomly and intstantly our night changed. We started off as 2 random strangers in the bar but, being musicians, we found our way to the piano and... We popped in for a quiet pint before dinner but had to return after it because the Guinness was amazing. We ended up having pints and chat with the owner and a local and stayed late to enjoy the live music. The owner even offered us a round of drinks. Great little pub, our favourite in Donegal town and the... More

We came here for a couple drinks as a recommendation from our cab driver. It is a very quaint yet eclectic little pub with more history packed inside of it than you could ever think possible. Wonderful atmosphere and a friendly owner named Joe, I believe. Definitely a must see!
