Place packed with locals so you know it's good. Everyone was so friendly. We loved the music and all the different artists that kept coming in and sitting down and singing or playing. Please have Guinness when you're in Ireland. It doesn't taste anything like the schlock we have in America--it's creamy.

If you're interested in listening to genuine Trad music in a true Irish pub, this IS the place. We were there on a Friday evening and the Reel Inn was a mix of locals & tourists. The regulars couldn't have been nicer & we felt right at home, as the collection of musicians lit the pub up.

Thanks to our CIE tour bus driver, Dominic, we found the most amazing little pub that was packed to the gills with happy, friendly locals and tourists. No food here but the drinks were cold and the music hot. The owners act as welcoming committee, bartenders and band. The Irish music is just fantastic. By the time you leave, John... More

We were there 2 nights for the Irish music performed by locals. It's very busy so best to get there by 9 pm for a seat.

We were on an organized trip around the north of Ireland. We spent several days in Donegal. The bus driver suggested the "Reel Inn". This was by far the highlight of our trip. Great music, great people and the Guiness was way to good. We are looking forward to a trip back and staying longer. The best of Ireland.

Visited Donegal as part of a "hair-of-the-dog" celebration for my niece's wedding. While visiting a local music shop, the clerk recommended that we attend the evening's entertainment at the Reel Inn if we were interested in traditional Irish music. Additionally there were traditional dancers scheduled to appear at 9:30. What an evening! Wonderful dancing, outstanding music, great audience. For those... More

I was in Donegal recently and had the great opportunity to visit the Reel Inn for a pint. To my surprise we were entertained by talented musicians playing traditional Irish music. We also had Irish dancers entertain us and invite volunteers to learn a few steps. Jon, the owner, makes everyone feel special as soon as you walk in. I... More

We happened upon this place while walking around Donegal Town on our first day in town. I had a few pints with the locals, then we came back that evening for the music. We had such a great time, we went back every night we were there. John, the owner, made us feel like long time friends as soon as... More

While in Donegal City for two nights stay - we asked our taxi driver if there was any traditional music sessions (a session is the term for a music gathering, unscripted and anyone can participate) She told us the place to be by 8:30 PM was a small pub "The Reel Inn" just across the street from the Donegal Castle....
