We went to an amazing gig in the Opera House during the Jazz Festival. It was the Saturday night, they'd taken all the seating out of the auditorium and the place rocked! went to see the current production in there last night 12/11/2013, and it is a small basic venue ,i think an off shoot of the cork opera house ,when i say basic its functional and works well for small productions this play was a three man gig with about five musicians the seating i found uncomfortable after an hour although... I've only been here once, for a production of Beckett's 'Play', but I thought the piece worked really well in the space. It's functional, not pretty, intimate and presumably quite versatile in terms of what it can host. Certainly a very necessary type of venue for a city like Cork, for things too modest to go into the Opera House.
