This was my first stop on my visit to Cork. It was fun to walk around and see all of the purveyors - mostly meat, chicken, and fish. My first wish was that I lived in Cork so that I could shop here all the time. Since I was just passing through, I just bought a sandwich at The Sandwich... More

In just a few minutes of entering the Market, we began to wish we had been staying in an apartment so we could shop here for our food! All the fresh culinary delights of the Irish cuisine were laid out for inspection, including some things we would never see at home. Like a huge whole monkfish with its mouth propped... More

Located just off the Grand Parade The English Market has been billed as a tourist attraction even though it is mostly frequented by locals. It is a vibrant indoor victorian market with several cafes. There are butchers chopping up slaps of beef and making sausages, fish and seafood being put on ice for display, vegetables, soaps, all kind of vendors... More

Although this is a world class food market, its lively atmosphere and eateries also make it a must see destination in Cork. Yes, locals certainly do shop there; but there is a wide selection of cold meats, cheeses and breads that could make a great picnic.

The majority of the vendors in the Old English Market sell meats, seafood and produce. Not much for a tourist to see or buy. There is a nice cafe upstairs though where we got coffee and scones for breakfast.

This is a fantastic market for food, vegetables and fish right in Cork City Centre. There was such choice. We visited Saturday morning and it was crowded. As we weren't leaving WatersEdge Hotel in Cobh until the following morning we had to resist purchasing anything sadly. I certainly will visit again. Incidentally the train station from Cobh is only a few... More

After HRH Queen Elizabeth's visit and Rick Steve's effusing praises, we thought this was a must do. Well, do not. It is a one storey, small square footage, mostly raw seafood, meat, and vegetable market. Great for locals, not for tourists. Instead, on your bucket list of great farmers markets: Pike Place in Seattle, Quincy Market in Boston, Queen Victoria... More

When ever we are back in West Cork I like to go to the market. The architecture is beautiful and the place has a great feel to it as you walk around. There are a great couple of retro shops to visit as well as delicious chocolate stall. If I lived near there I would happily get my weekly shop... More

First thing to note is that this is a food related market, there are some other bits about yet it is food you come here for.. I remember going to the English market many years ago and then it really was a full-on thriving market.. that seems to have changed.. (possibly with the 'times'?).. It is still a wonderful place...
