A trip to this covered market is a must. Under high vaulted ceilings, stalls are set up along narrow aisles. The refrigerated counters of the butchers are a delight - cuts of meat from every part of the beast !!! If you enjoy organ meats, this is the place to buy them - tripe, tongues, hearts, livers and kidneys from... More

This is the kind of place that everyone wishes they had near their home. The market is quite large with vendors selling really beautiful fish, meat, cheeses, chocolate, pastries, and so on. There are even vintage clothing shops,. We had a very lovely breakfast and went back the next morning for food for the road., Terrific scones, bread, cheese, fish... More

This market is much larger than it look's from outside. There are four entrances, the architecture is amazing. There is a wide selection of foods and fabulous fresh fish, the fishmongers are very helpful when advising you how best to cook them giving you interesting ideas for recipes.

The roofed municipal food market is located in the heart of Cork and has been in operation since 1788. The present market dates from 1850 and was partially refurbished after fires in1980 and 1986. The stalls are held under a 21 year lease and can be reached through four street entrances. The market is considered one of the top ten... More

There are four entrances to The English market from different streets. At one end there is a beautiful flower shop. The other is a hive of activity where you can get organic local foods. Another is one of the best fish markets in the city. There is also a unique, in my opinion cheese and pate counter. The are two... More

If you can't find it here it's not worth finding and if you really insist it can be ordered by many different vendors and competition is good amonst them

Have been many times to the English a Market and make a point of taking visitors there. Wonderful selection of locally produced products added to a great selection of cheeses, local and imported, fish freshly caught, see the man who made the queen of England laugh and sent her a hamper to Buckingham Palace.

open every day from 8am to 6pm except Sundays and Pubic Holidays. There are a lot of butchers shops and fishmongers selling amazing things like crubbeens and trotters and monkfish (delicious but so ugly). If you are not fond of the smell of raw meat or fish, you may not like it. There is a restaurant upstairs that sells traditional... More

I'm a local and know this inside out, but never really appreciated how good this could be as a place for visitors to Cork to also enjoy. It's a artisan food location and also where good local produce is enjoyed at reasonable prices. It is difficult to make quality food without good ingredients. Good ingredients are not cheap. You can... More
