When I think of Markets, I think of Vendors with covered stands selling their wares. This is a large city blocks of shops. There's restaurants, clothing stores, pubs, meat markets, woolen stores, etc. If you are wanting to do a bit of shopping, this is the place to go.

I went out of my way to visit here and am glad I did. It isn’t large but it is filled with incredible food and it was a close-up look at the local meats and fish available to the lucky residents of Cork. For a traveler passing through, however, it is still fun to peruse the stalls and grab a... More

Like many European markets this has everything. Can find good wine, fresh local grown veggies , bakery goods, fish just brought in that morning plus they have the speaker stand that HRM Queen Elizabeth used when she spoke there

I had been advised this was a must visit place. It was interesting and worth visiting but perhaps others would find it better than I did.

First you need to go early. We went late in the afternoon and all the eating facilities were closed. Tons of really good looking fresh cuts of meat and local fish as well as breads and pastries. Take a camera!

As an enthusiastic eater of food, especially sea food, I was drawn immediately to the fish stalls towards the rear of the market. To get there I had to pass through glorious stalls full of local artisan foods, spices, vegetables, meats and breads. As the excitement grew I remembered the picture of The Queen visiting the market and stopping by... More

Good place to visit for a snack, browsing, and a flavor of the old city in Cork. You have to hunt a bit for the entrances to this market, but once you're inside, there are a lot of places to check out for local color, fresh fruit, prepared food (I had several slices of excellent focaccia pizza), gifts, etc.

There is a reason this place gets great reviews and is up to you to find out for yourself. Great selection of cheese, dips and meats not to mention the breads and cakes. Yummo!
