Interesting and educational for the adults. Plenty space and novelty for kids. Gradually progressing in it's development as an amenity. Great to walk around the whole island on a sunny day and soak in the perspectives of Cork harbour. Taking the tour is worthwhile to learn about the history and to get in to a gun tower. Great family day... More

Our trip to spike island today was great. Our tour guide John had a lot of local knowledge and really made the experience excellant. Hope to come back in a couple of years when it is fully restored.

Enjoyable visit to Spike Island. We got the ferry over and was a lovely trip round the harbour. We didn't do a guided tour which would of benefited our trip more to get the most out of our time there. Very interesting history and lovely island. Remember to dress well when going over, very cold and windy when we were... More

We travelled out on the boat to spike island, being met by a woman from opw to give us a short informed talk about the island and all it functions over the past few years.. We were given a map to see where important things occurred down through the years.. It is an interesting place to vist.. Will do better... More

The prison complex itself is quite haunting (as you'd expect). Didn't have time for the guided tour but wished we had, as we didn't think there was enough information/history available on each block. However it has to be remembered that funding is being pumped into the complex and the plans (some of which I feel are mistakes, such as the... More

If you're in cobh you have to go visit spike island, its a great place to visit. We got the guided tour which was 35 euro for a family which is a little pricey, but you can get an unguided tour for 20 euro for a family, we had a great time the tour guide was witty and presented the... More

A lovely day trip from Cobh, interesting and with beautiful 360 views of Cork harbour. Staff on the island so helpful and friendly even though we weren't doing a guided tour. Highly recommend this trip.

A wonderful trip to a beautiful island, which is steeped in a very interesting history. Well worth a visit. Our tour guide John made the tour so enjoyable and as a local, has a wealth of knowledge about the area. Definitely going back next year.
