Had visited the castle in April end 09. Its quite accessible from Cork City Bus station. There are buses every hour to and from Blarney. The return tickets costs abt 6 Euro. I was astonished that the price to get into Blarney Castle was 10Euros each! For that you get to walk around a ruin and bend over backwards to kiss a stone - which if you want a photo - is another 10Euros! We went to Blarney Castle in February 2009. There were no lines and the handlers at the top let me take pictures. Normally they will not let you take pictures as they are trying to sell theirs. My kids, aged 14 and 11, had a great experience running up the circular stairs and kissing the stone. Don't beleive the rumors!... more
