Huntington Castle is very popular and deservedly so. Our tour was led by a member of the original family which still inhabits the castle. The tour lasted approximately an hour and flew by because the guide was so interesting. Unfortunately it was difficult to see and hear everything because there were so many people on the tour. The guide was... More

Lovely small Irish castle still owned by the original family. Tour giide Alex gave an excellent run-through of the history of his ancestors and the role of the castle within the history of the local area whilst showing us through the rooms - think 'Downton Abbey' decor but on a smaller scale! Beautifully tended extensive gardens outside to explore with... More

Went to the Halloween Ghost Tour for Adults, and it was excellent perfectly spooky and yes had well worked frights along the way. Time and money has been invested for this attraction and it's well worth the entry fee. It takes 35mins (as advertised!) which is a tad short, but when your left wanting more then your hosts have done... More

In addition to drinking tea at the pleasant, quaint tearoom and a tour of the castle, we spent the night in the castle. Alex and Clare were wonderfully hospitable hosts. We happened to arrive on Tuesday, when the local restaurant Sha Roe Bistro was closed, but Alex recommended restaurants in nearby Bunclody. When we returned that night, Alex offered us... More

This experience really covers three aspects - the extensive and historic gardens, the tea in the courtyard and the inside of the castle. We were lucky with our timing - the tour of the castle does not usually take place in September, but we bowled up 'on spec' shortly before a pre-booked group arrived and the owner allowed us to... Visited Hungtington Castle today and really enjoyed the tour. Our guide was informative, welcoming and entertaining. The gardens are really lovely and when we arrived back to the tea rooms after 5pm, the staff very obligingly made us tea and coffee even though they appeared to be closing up for the day. Newly decorated bathrooms were very nice with little... More

Arrived their today was a little disappointed as the tour was closed ... Have to wait for the weekend, but could stroll through the gardens ... It's dreamlike , romantic and mystical, I loved it, so I forgive the fact I could not see the castle. Nxt time

Worth to be seen as there are not so many places still own by the descendants, at least not so many opened for visitors and not transformed in exclusive hotels. There are few rooms that can be visited, including the basement transformed in a sanctuary for Isis cult. Nice family stories...I really enjoyed it, despite the fact that I would... More

Set in the very picturesque village of Clonegal, Carlow is the beautiful Huntington Castle. Myself and my two children 9 & 6 took a house tour given by one of the family members which I thought was a nice touch, made it more personable. Hearing stories of his great grandmother and her adventures, she was quite a character! The 'dungeon'... More

We just finished an overnight stay at Huntington Castle. Must say it was a n eye opening visit. Alex the house owner is a hospitable host who gave us a personal touch to our trip. Lovely little tea shop worth a visit. New toilets currently being built which will be brilliant. Lots of animals like pot bellied pigs, chickens, ducks,... More
