Now the canal id fully open, walk the tow paths, watch the barges which sail in the summer months and cap it off by visiting Falkirk Wheel and/or Linlithgow Palace.

It was really brilliant to just get away from everything. I enjoyed our trip on the Union Canal over the Avon ViaDuct but declinde the offer to go outside and enjoy the view. I know I missed an experience but I just hadn't the nerve to walk on the viaduct.

Narrow boats come through the Canal Centre at Linlithgow. They can tie up and visit the splendid tearoom and look down on the Linlithgow Palace to the north. Hire a boat from there and take a trip along the canal to the Avon Aqueduct.
