As the boat sails to a timetable a trip should be booked online and in August for example the boat can be full so an early booking is to be advised. The trip runs from Linlithgow Canal Cebtre to the Falkirk wheel and returns by bus. A second later trip leaves from the Falkirk wheel to Linlithgow and returns by... More

This tourist attraction is worth visiting. It is run by several dedicated volunteers who devote their time and effort to restoring the canal barges and running canal trips. The centre has a good tea shop to stop for a cuppa! If you are looking to spend a relaxing hour with the family then book a canal tour as the younger... More

We moored up here to fill our boat with water. The one and only water point was blocked by a canal boat that had been moored there all day. During our struggles with the water we were pestered by a local tramp complete with bottle of cider and aggressive staffie dog. We left as quickly as we could without managing... More

Sorry you had a problem in Linlithgow. That side of the canal is run by Scottish Canals and has nothing to do with Linithgow Union Canal Society. We are currently closed for the season as we are run by volunteers and open again next spring. More

we were disappointed that we could not do a canal trip on Saturday morning of our departure. we had seen the canal trip on the Friday afternoon and it would have been great to travel the Avon aquaduct by boat. we understand that it is run by volunteers and we will fit it in on our next trip

I went on a day when there was a birthday party and so I it was shut up, I could not see a museum or do a sailing which I was disappointed in. Nice walk along canal though. Parking could be tricky

Arrival: 30 minutes prior to setting off you get a lesson on how to steer the barge. Cost: it only cost around £6 per person (there was 10 of us) Barge: clean, comfy, small loo, plenty of seating area. Food: after 90 minutes or so we arrived at barge 49 for lunch. Was a busy place so maybe let them... More

Skipper and crew were helpful and friendly but also professional and safety orientated. We were able to arrive early and decorate the tables inside. The barge is quite cosy and we all enjoyed being on board. It was good to walk along the viaduct and watch the other barges pass by. We organised our buffet lunch from Wellbread catering a... More

Went out in a team bonding trip taking charge of a 12 person canal boat. Although a little daunted at the prospect of taking the boat to Ratho, this was a really enjoyable and relaxing trip. Left at 9:30 and arrived 4 hours later at Ratho. Canal was easily navigable and little traffic! Probably best to go out on a... More

Live nearby first time on the trip couldn't believe the value for money. Really relaxing. £8 per adult for a 2 and half hour slow cruise along the aqueducts to Falkirk. Kids would be bored but there is a shorter trip that would suit them. Great for a wee chill out afternoon. It was also interesting to hear the history... More
