Arrival: 30 minutes prior to setting off you get a lesson on how to steer the barge. Cost: it only cost around £6 per person (there was 10 of us) Barge: clean, comfy, small loo, plenty of seating area. Food: after 90 minutes or so we arrived at barge 49 for lunch. Was a busy place so maybe let them... More

Skipper and crew were helpful and friendly but also professional and safety orientated. We were able to arrive early and decorate the tables inside. The barge is quite cosy and we all enjoyed being on board. It was good to walk along the viaduct and watch the other barges pass by. We organised our buffet lunch from Wellbread catering a... More

Went out in a team bonding trip taking charge of a 12 person canal boat. Although a little daunted at the prospect of taking the boat to Ratho, this was a really enjoyable and relaxing trip. Left at 9:30 and arrived 4 hours later at Ratho. Canal was easily navigable and little traffic! Probably best to go out on a... More

Live nearby first time on the trip couldn't believe the value for money. Really relaxing. £8 per adult for a 2 and half hour slow cruise along the aqueducts to Falkirk. Kids would be bored but there is a shorter trip that would suit them. Great for a wee chill out afternoon. It was also interesting to hear the history... More

Had a most enjoyable canal boat trip today with my parents, mother-in-law and husband from Linlithgow to the Aqueduct up stream, a very relaxing two and a half hour trip. Comfortable inside but there was a small space at the front outside for two people to sit. We got out at the aqueduct for a photo stop and a little... More

What a surprise to find such a pleasant man made river winding its way through Linlithgow. The basin is a colourful and busy with a nice tearoom. I cycled along the bank to the aqueduct and back, quite narrow in places so care is required.

The person on duty showed no enthusiasm for his society's museum; there were no home-made cakes for the tea - they appeared shop-bought & were dry & uninviting - the person in charge seemed distracted and service was not great. We went there primarily to support the society as we are interested in canals and were disappointed.

Museum part is tiny, but interesting, and on a nice day this is a lovely place to pass a couple of hours. We took the short canal trip - about 30mins. You don't really go anywhere, just up and down passed the centre, but for small children and grown up children who love boats it was great! The pilot was... More

Passed by this Canal boat Museum closed for the winter ....if you are in the area after the 4th of April it is full of interesting items and a good history of the canal systems in Scotland. cruises are available through the season at a very reasonable price .......the cruise to the Avon Gorge is not blessed with good views...
