Calgary Bay is at once: scenic, peaceful, melancholy, ghostly, haunting. My husband, myself, and another couple all live in Calgary Canada. Our city was named for Calgary Bay, on the Isle of Mull in Scotland, more than 100 years ago by Col. James MacLeod who had visited there in the 1800's. Calgary Bay is also the place from where a... We visited Calgary last Thursday when the sun was at its best - this beach is not to be missed if the weather is good. It is a beautiful setting to enjoy a picnic then walk along a very quiet beach. We parked at the south end, not the main car park, and there are a number of picnic benches... More

Calgary beach is a strip of sand enclosed in two encircling headlands, which create quite a deep bay, so it is as sheltered as it gets. And as lovely as one could imagine. The sunsets are amazing. The swimming looks safe, it was too cold whilst we were there, but our dogs loved the sea, we took them every day... More

A trip to Calgary bay is recommended. White sandy beach , fantastic for swimming , great picnic spot and can be idyllic when the sun is shining , the art centre is well worth a look and there is a good cafe as well. It is one of our favourite places on Mull without a doubt , I thoroughly enjoyed... More

This is a glorious white sand beach, backed by grassland. A small car park. It does not have any facilities eg toilets, café but well worth a visit. A footpath runs along to the headland.

We visited Calgary Bay while touring the Isle of Mull. The beach is a beautiful stretch of white sand with low hills looking out towards the Atlantic ocean. We took a walk up the right side of the bay towards an old granite peer and what looks like the remnants of a volcanic tube. The walk was fairly straight forward... More

It would have been worth a 350 mile round trip simply to spend a couple of hours mesmerised by this breathtaking bay never mind the rest of amazing Mull. If you don't go anywhere else in the world in your lifetime make sure you see this. Its almost impossible to pull yourself away. It absolutely fantastic.

The title says it all really. What a lovely place for a stroll as the sun sets. Not a bit of litter, no one else on the beach. Just perfect.
