Callanish is in a beautiful setting and truly something to wonder at. Heaven knows how this marvellous achievement was accomplished all those years ago and yet still remains in place totally unspoilt for us to enjoy today.

Don't leave The Isle of Lewis without seeing this sight at least twice. It is best seen without the crowds or bus tours so the early morning or late evening is the best time, the mystery of the sight can easily be ruined with a the business.A very beautiful sight and don't forget callanish 2 and 3 a short walk...

These stones are beautiful and atmospheric but when we wanted to visit them to see the sunset it was spoilt by "photographers" set up wanting to get their " perfect shot". Leaving us ordinary folks with no chance of a shot without them in it. One actually asked us to move out of the way as we were spoiling it...

Maybe because it was a bright sunny day, but I was disappointed by the stones - they seemed smaller and less "atmospheric" than they do in photos. Worth visiting the other two circles and the Callanish stones do look better from a distance. The shop and cafe were excellent and Callanish is still a "must visit" on the island.

The visitor center has a nice shop and café as well. The views from the stones are stunning as well. If you're on the Isle of Lewis, this is definitely worth a stop
This is a must do trip. We have visited four times. Do it alongside a trip to the Black House museum at Arnol.. We also recommend having your coffee or lunch at Arnol as the restaurant at Calanish isn't very good.

The day we arrived, it was misty, and added a sense of the unreal to this magical place. A must on a tour of Lewis.
Well presented history in the centre and at the circle with easy access to the stone site, with a cafe on return to warm you from the brisk cold hill wind. Seats to sit on going up the incline.
The stones themself are already good to watch but I find the display and explenation about the stones very good
