The St. Kilda Archipelago is a truly magical place to set foot on. Well worth the 3 hour stomach churning boat trip that runs frequently from March-September. The buildings left behind by its last inhabitants are strung forlornly around the village bay on the main island of Hiort and the mist and low cloud that subdued our trip only accentuated... more

If you have good sea-legs you must make this trip. This group of islands is like no other and their history will haunt you, charm you and leave you in awe at their beauty. After years of dreaming I, along with friends and family, were lucky enough to go ashore on Hirta (part of the St. Kilda archipelago of islands forming the most westerly part of the British Isles). The history of this island evacuated in the 1930s along with its dual World Heritage Site status makes it a place many want to visit.... more
