There are different grades of walks and a pleasure to visit at all times of the year. There is also a good play area for children. The hunting lodges of the Dukes of Hamilton are close... More

Great place for a ramble through the woods and up and down the Avon Gorge, a site of special scientific interest. SSSI. Great Treasure. The visitor centre and cafe is also excellent. Not to mention the Hunting Lodge.

Chatelherault is on a fabulous setting on a hill with great views over to Glasgow and the Campsies. There's a good choice of walks (mostly in woods) of varying lengths, although once you move away from the house I think it would be a bit more restrictive for people with limited mobility. Lots of open spaces too for families/groups to... More

Built to house the Duke of Hamilton's hunting horses and dogs, including banqueting hall - the building has settled in the past and it is quite disconcerting when walking through parts as I actually felt a little seasick! Beautifully restored, with exhibition area that is informative and fun - great for children, very hands-on. Good tea room, shop, gardens and... More
