Classic Links course

Classic…site of the first Open in the 1860's. Played on a windy day…very challenging…caddies were locals who were very knowledgable.

This is where the "Open" started and still an interesting and playable golf course. Traditional links that you have to hit fairly straight shots on, is a bit quirky with loads of fun. Take at least a stroke saver with your first game, the caddies are worth a few shots. Fantastic clubhouse experience with good food and a lovely bar... More

We are glad to hear you enjoyed your round at Prestwick. Your advice about taking a caddie is quite correct - they will make you enjoy your round so much more and try to keep you on the straight and narrow! More

And with that warm statement from Bobby the Starter (in his dapper jacket and tie), we were off. But first, we posed for our complimentary photo (a nice touch). This is a place that exudes history and class and treated us as if we were regular members. The course is one of a kind, with very unique holes (and quite... More

We played this course on a cold windy day with a little bit of rain. We had local caddies who helped a lot. We could not have played this course without them. They even gave us the name of a good local restaurant. This course has a lot of blind shots and quirky holes but that is what makes it... More

Fantastic course in great condition, some hidden bunkers and quirky holes so would recommend a stroke saver as a minimum. Great clubhouse facilities, friendly pro shop and the lunch experience was very traditional with very attentive staff. Would recommend a visit.

As an American student in Glasgow, I was a bit nervous about going alone to play such a storied golf course. I love the sport and the history alone here was too much allure; I had to play it. It's quite easy to get to from Glasgow, about 14 quid for a round trip train ticket and the course is... More

Play with a caddy for sure. Quirky fun and you can play it very fast. They give you a souvenir photo for your group which I think is a great tradition! Very nice staff

Original site for the Open Championship, this is one of the top courses in Scotland. Played in poor weather, but still found interesting and playable. A few blind shots turn some people off, but don't let them scare you away. Too bad they don't have room to host the Open, as I think it's a much better course than the... More

This should be so much better known. A really lovely old links course which doesn't look too difficult but requires accuracy and thought. Clubhouse experience absolutely fantastic - good food, lovely bar room overlooking the 18th green.

Very traditionall and sometimes a bit quirky links course. Not an easy course but as long as you can keep it fairly straight you don't have to hit it mile to enjoy yourself. Welcoming and service minded staff all around. A genuine, old school, golf experience.
