We went on one of Donald's Tours around Ayr in July 2009 and we found this a wonderful experience as he so looks like Rabbie Burns. He as a great sense of humour tells some great tales about the bard and the history of Ayr. A good few hours of fun. from the Mackies of Berwick-upon-tweed more

I can't thank Donald enough for the fantastic day and the information of my birth town that I never knew. Donald's enthusium for Ayrshire and everything Burns is infectious, we all had a most wonderful time. Thank you Donald. Kindest... more

You'd think it was actually him - just like in the paintings, it's an uncanny resemblance as we listened to Donald throughout the tour. A bit more Grecian 2000 might do the trick though, Burns was only 37 when he died! The tour was both informative and amusing - obviously a lot of research has gone into Donald's work -... more

Donald MacKay's tour of Burns Ayrshire is the only choice for both literary and history buffs. Of course, we enjoyed Donald's recitation of Burns's poetry--particularly the wonderfully detailed and delightful stroll through the sites associated with "Tam O'Shanter." But the best part was Donald's knowledge of the reality of Burns's social and economic context. We learned how Burns, his family,... more

Donald Kay should be on commission from Visit Scotland. He is a very knowledgable guide who brings the fascinating history of Ayr to life. We walked in the footsteps of William Wallace, Rabbie Burns and Oliver Cromwell - Donald told us fascinating tales of the town including stories of witches and martyrs and managed to introduce a bit of humour... more

Donald Kay's Walkabout tour was fascinating. In a little under two hours, we walked all around town and learned about its history. Donald is very knowledgeable and clearly has a passion for the town. He gives quite a bit of detail, but does not overwhelm you. He has a great flair for the dramatic, and gave a wonderful recitation of... more
