Diving at Scapa Flow, is diving in history. Wrecks from both World War's are present. The most prestigious beiing, of course, the German wrecks from WW I. There is a minimum level of expreience required: diving with a dry suit (the water is only 12-14° C) and deep diving (the german wrecks are below 32 meters) are a necessity. The... More

My son and i took our dry suit speciality course at the Churchill barriers, the dive site was fantastic not only allowing for easy entry into the water but also fantastic wrecks to see. Our instructors James and Rob were fantastic, giving exceptionally professional training. They had a great knowledge not only with regards to diving but also with regards... More

Beautiful scenery, fantastic sea scapes, and the best kite flying we've had for years! Lots of isolated beaches and coves to explore, seals galore, and room for kids to run.

We thoroughly our tour of Scapa Flow with tour company Orkney Uncovered. We agree with last review you definitely need to tour guide to show you around as it is a massive area of water. Our tour included viewing points of Scapa Flow, the history from the 1500's to WWI, WWII and beyond. We also visited the area where HMS... More

Do this as part of a tour with a guide and hear the stories of war time and how important this sea was.

We had the delight in seeing a lot of Scapa Flow when we were on a private tour with Orkney Uncovered. We feel that you can great a great view from the top of a hill called Scorradale. We also did a coastal walk at a RSPB bird reserve called Hobbister. About 3.5km so you need to be fit! Lots... More

A beautiful bay. We saw it from just outside Scapa, on an early July morning. Windy and gusts of rain, but we still had a very nice - if somewhat brief - picnic/breakfast by the beach. Made for a perfect start to the day.

Definitely one of the must-see sights on the island, especially if you're interested in the Orkney's wartime history.

While on a guided tour of Orkney I had the chance to see many interesting areas around Scapa Flow including some amazing viewing points, over Scapa Flow towards the island of Hoy and Flotta. It is really quite amazing that this area of water was so important in supporting the allied victories in WWI and WWII. I was taken by... More
