When James Gordon and John Alexander MacPhail announced the opening of their 'centrical and commodious premises' on South Street,Elgin, on 24th May 1895 they would be proud to see it still trading today. When you visit the shop you will be greeted with the aroma of home cooked local gammon, the largest selection of the finest cheeses available in North East Scotland and shelves packed with a fantastic array of high quality grocery products. No visit to the Gordon & MacPhail store would be complete without a visit to the Whisky Room. Stocking around 800 different single malt whiskies, the Whisky Room attracts customers from throughout the world to its crowded shelves. Browsing through the wide selection of whiskies, many of which are very old and extremely rare, you have entered the Aladdin’s Cave of whisky.

If you are a whiskey lover and who isn't ,if you are visiting Scotland, well this is the place. We stayed in Elgin for touring the Whiskey Trail and to go to especially to Gordon & MacPhail. You will never see a store with so much whiskey. I brought back 2 bottles of scotch that i could not get back... More

A great selection of Whisky with a variety of prices plus some nice whisky related merchandise. They also have a large selection of miniatures, which you can not always find online and is a cheap way to try many different whiskies. The shop also offers other alcoholic drinks and has food selection with a deli counter. I came away with... More

worth making a trip to Elgin's Gordon & MacPhail's, not only for the delicious deli, but most importantly the fine whiskeys and wine on display. The banter with the part-time gent on the counter, is a must. He is well informative and is a credit to the Company. A wide array of spirits and wine to please every palate. My... More

This is a lovely shop full of all sorts of exciting things, but the main reason people visit is, I suspect, to look at, get advice about, sample and buy single malt whisky. I could be wrong of course, but that was the reason I visited. The staff are pleasant but a busy times there aren't enough of them to... More

We visited only to see and hopefully buy from the whisky room and although they do have a large number of whisky on display and for sale they are mostly run of the mill drinking whisky for want of a better description. On our visit the room was busy with around 10/12 people all looking and in most cases looking... More
