Many people believe that this brooding lake in Northern Scotland, 21 square miles in size at an average depth of 800 feet, could certainly hide a large dinosaur-like "monster," the lake's long-time and elusive resident.

Seeing Loch Ness was breathtaking! There definitely is a bit of an enchanted feel to it. There are roads on either side of the river which you can drive along, one closer to the river and the other is the freeway. The water was so blue and the surrounding forests were great to see as well. We really enjoyed doing... More

This is a lovely though somewhat disappointing lake if you have heard the legends. It was much smaller than we expected, but boasted beautiful views. It is very very deep. Take a boat ride on the lake. It ends at a castle ruin that is lovely. It just seems too small to support the legendary creature and of course we... More

This is a must-see when in Scotland. The scenery is just stunning. There are excellent photo opportunities along the way, two highly recommended ones are closer to Inverness and at Urquhart Castle. There is free parking at Urquhart Castle, but we opted not to pay the fee to visit the castle (it's a bit of a ripoff). Instead we walked... More

Trip to Scotland wouldn't be complete without the Loch Ness cruise (although personally I think other Scottish lochs are similar, just smaller). On the lake you will feel it with all your body when you realize the distance to both ends, the depth below the boat and when you try few gulps of water (may be slightly polluted by Nessie)... More

Beautiful views of the Highlands. We took a boat ride through Loch Ness and it was gorgeous. If you're in Scotland it's well worth the trip to get there. Plus you can look for Nessie (or a large catfish - google it)!

Loch Ness is stunning like every other Loch (lakes) in Scotland. However the review is about the one day bus trip from Edinburgh. Please do not waste your UK 50 pounds (USD 75) per person plus expenses like lunch, water etc. Of the 13 hours bus journey, typically you will get to see and admire the beauty of Loch Ness... More

I was worried Loch Ness would be commercial but I shouldn't have - there was a museum set a little way back from the Loch, and a few hotels and restaurants, but the Loch was beautiful, peaceful and quite mysterious. It's huge but you can drive around it quite easily within a couple of hours, and the scenery on that... More

Travelling to Scotland without visiting its most famous lake is unthinkable. Even without spotting the cute green monster. The scenery is beautiful and you can enjoy it even by driving around the lake, and especially the more picturesque, and much less crowded eastern side, even if the very narrow single-track road (B 852 from Dores), running along the shores of... If you like the storied´s of Nessie and travel with kids it's a placenot to be missed. Just driving past it looking for that little sign that there might be something out there get the minds of the kids going. Even if you're not Nessie huting the lake itself is a beautiful spot to visit and if we had had... More
