My wife and I were in the Loch Ness area from August 3-4 and thought it was fantastic. We were staying in Duror and drove the A82 north to Inverness. Along the way, we took a cruise out of Fort Augustus and visited Urguhart Castle. When we returned, we drove on the east side of Loch Ness via the B862... More

On a recent holiday to the Lowlands we decided to see some of the Highlands and Loch Ness seemed like a good focal point (with an overnight stop ) we wanted to see the Loch and the castle it was a wonderful trip. Loch Ness is famous in legend setting that aside its worth the visit just for its self.... More

If you are touring Scotland you just have to visit Loch Ness don't you? Of course you do. We stopped off at Fort Augustus and, probably as it was not in the peak season, it was not overcrowded. The town itself is attractive and the views of the canal, the locks on the canal and Loch Ness with its surrounding... More

We were part of a CIE tour, so we were at the mercy of time constraints or we would have loved to take a walk along the shores of Loch Ness.. We stopped for photo ops along the way. Our tour guide, Rich, was teasing us that Nessie may not be far away and to keep an eye open. When... More

It is full of tourists and very much overrated. They have the tour buses and the overpriced shops for the tourists. If you can get away from that then I would say it it o.k.

Loch Ness has a special beauty that is so different from other lochs. It's 20 miles long and 1 mile wide and 700 meters at its deepest. I sure enjoyed going to its shore. I found that driving from Inverness on the left side of the loch gave us more opportunities to enjoy its riverbed. The right side has way... More

What in fact would one expect to see on Loch Ness? Nessi surely not, and even we were encouraged by driver/guide to try free whiskey at one of the stops and enhance chances to see something intriguing in the lake, no one form the group did it. Lake itself is nice, maybe more narrow than what I expected and weather... More
