Many people believe that this brooding lake in Northern Scotland, 21 square miles in size at an average depth of 800 feet, could certainly hide a large dinosaur-like "monster," the lake's long-time and elusive resident.

We drove around this magnificent Loch and just took in its beauty. As it was too late to do a boat trip and look for Nessie, we had to make do with the drive. I have been out on the boat on this Loch in the past and would have loved to have done it again. The drive alone is... More

Drove down from Inverness leaving behind River Ness to explore its sources Loch Ness. A major part of the road is along the bank of lake with a few clearings where one can get down and enjoy the views and click photos. We had a boat ride on a lake research project boat. The ride was excellent with panoramic views... More

While I wasn't expecting to see Nessie up there, I was amazed by the landscape there. It's beyond what words can describe. A must see in the highlands !

We drove the scenic route, the A82, for the length of Loch Ness, and it was a gorgeous drive. There are plenty of places where you can park and take pictures -- one of the best took us down a flight of steps right onto the shore.

A quiet and peaceful place to spend some time with. We had an enjoyable and short stroll around the Loch, took some pictures and chilled out. Didn't join the cruise as we didn't have much time (the cruise takes one hour), and the scene would probably much the same whether you're on shore or out in the lake. Try catch... More

OK, we had to visit the famous Loch Ness and not surprisingly, it is a sight to behold. One of the largest Locks in Scotland the roads are well travelled and easy to transverse. Plenty of spots to stop to take photographs and there are numerous eateries along the way to stop for a drink. Worth the drive.

In mid-July we embarked on a cruise on Loch Ness and very nearly froze! The commentary provides fascinating information about the Loch, not much of which admittedly I did not retain. Nessie did put in an appearance on cue to everyone's great amusement!

It is a beautiful lake just like many others in Scotland. It has really clear water, at least on For Augustus, that is one of the places where you can take a photo with the Loch Ness board. It is so famous that it is a must visit place when in Scotland, but sincerely it is has beautiful like many... More

You can't visit Inverness or the surrounding areas without a trip to Loch Ness....only around about 15mins drive from Inverness. Very busy place but lovely loch side drives and boat trips into the still calm waters for some Nessie hunting Book your boat trip before you arrive as can get very busy.

Without question Loch Ness has the most unusual reputation around the world because of the monster tales. Because of this reputation it was high on our list of sites to visit in Scotland. The lake is very picturesque and we enjoyed our visit although we didn't see the monster.
