This was one of the attractions that was on my MUST visit list from the beginning, and it did not disappoint. We spent several hours exploring the museum ~ very well done how they explain both sides of the story........on one side the government, the other the Jacobites with pictures and narrations. The 360 degree film of the battle was... more

We came to Culloden on a tour of Scotland knowing only a little about the Culloden and its effects on the history of Scotland and the rest of the UK. We were tempted to skip the museum and just walk the moor but decided to pay extra for the museum. The new museum is a fantastically arranged story investigating both... more

We spent a day with Alistair Cunningham of Clans and Castles in Inverness. We visited Clava Cairns, Culloden, Urquhart Castle, Drumnadrocit, and Beauly. Alistair is a fantastic guide. He greeted us in a kilt and was such a friendly, pleasant person to spend a day with. His knowledge on a vast array of subjects was remarkable! He told us stories... more

We used the local Stagecoach buses to travel to and from the National Trust for Scotland Culloden Visitor Centre on a Saturday in September 2009. The centre is built on Drummossie Moor, five miles from Inverness, where on 16th April 1746 the Jacobites and the Hanoverians fought the final battle of the civil war in Britain. On a personal note,... more

Another great place to spend a part of your day in Inverness. The drive from town is quick and easy. Being there just gives you such a surreal feeling. And, its free to just walk around the battlefield itself. You only have pay if you want to go into the visitors center. My friends and I spent 3 hours there... more

We spent 2 weeks in Scotland and by far the best place we visited was The Culloden Battlefield and the new visitor centre and exhibition. It was truly an amazing experience. I am not a history buff, just a tourist looking for a nice afternoon. This was a visit I will not soon forget. I found the staff most helpful... more

If I had a rating of top museums I had ever seen Culloden Battlefield would be really highly ranked. I feel in terms of informativeness, attractiveness and presentation of the subject you can only say - this is the way to do it !!!!!!!! It shows a technology backed (audiovisualisations, GPS guided tour over the battlefield) history of Jacobite rising... more

The new visitor centre is one of the best I have visited. The battlefield is basically an empty moor but the new visitor centre made the trip a memorable one for my family. It is so well laid out and organised and the 4 minute movie of the "battle" really helped bring the event "to life". more

The new visitor centre at Culloden has been put together so well. Much interesting historical material, both of the battle and the times, is displayed; also many items found on the field or belonging to participants great and humble; many types of media are used including, at the press of a button, spoken tales using the actual words of both... more

We arrived at the Fort 34 minutes before closing time A woman were realy happy to tell us they were closed saying they close 30 minutes ahead (no signs about this). Even after us protesting and telling her we had 4 minutes left to enter she said actualy we close 45 minutes ahead"! First the policy is idiotic! We had... more
