The visitor centre at Culloden is really excellent once you run the gauntlet of the National Trust for Scotland employees trying to flog memberships and other items. This was an amazing place! I live in the United States and have previously visited Gettysburg, PA - the site of a major battle during the Civil War. That place is embarassing compared how tourist friendly the Culloden Battlefield is. Their new visitor center is the best I have ever seen anywhere! They do an amazing job informing you about the history with different technologies without it being too confusing. The battlefield hits you emotionally and I love the fact that everyone gets an audio guided tour of the battlefield without extra cost. more
