We did 2 days of touring: the Outlander tour (which ended up with a full car) and the NorthWest Magical Experience which was just us and our guide, George. Loved it all: would use Inverness Day Tours again. George was very accommodating and informative. We loved everything we saw, and appreciated the flexible approach (e.g., "You can do the formal... My wife and I went with Hugh's large car (for the two of us alone) thru Scotland. We stayed in B&B's. The pleasant thing with Hugh is that he speaks slow almost without local dialect, no Problem at all to understand him (our mothertong is not English) He knows such a lot about everything that we sometimes had to stop... I had the full day tour with George today, he took 5 other ppl. 2 american couples, an english woman and myself. George has a wealth of information about the area and the history. Remembering that the Outlander books aren't about actual sites around Inverness, George took us to places that closely resembled the places involved in this story so... More

This time I had chosen the half day tour to Cawdor Castle and Culloden. The tour was informative and relaxing. In addition to the before mentioned we also visited the prehistoric gravesite Balnuaran of Clava. I got a bit of history, geography, local politics, and a number of interesting stories - a little bit of everything again.

We did the Outlander tour with Hugh and 4 different tours with Ian and they all were excellent, informative and fun! Hugh is so interesting and his knowledge is endless. We got to meet the Earl of Cromartie, have tea at the Lallybroch look alike where Hugh showed us the weapons of the Highlanders, went to Cullen Battlefield and so many... More

The outlander tour was amazing! Hugh Allison is FULL of knowledge, about the book, the areas we visit and pass through and has a plethora of stories guaranteed to interest and entertain. We had lovely tour companions that ended up being more friends than strangers in the end. Just so pleased and am now re-re-reading the series and now, my... More

My husband and I celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary in March 2014 with a magical trip to Scotland. I knew exactly what I wanted to do, take the Outlander tour. I am a big fan of the series and we booked the tour about six months in advance. We opened our reservation up to others that might want to join... More

We booked 2 days of whiskey tours, but quickly figured out that most of the distilleries are owned and operated by the big corporations and that we could sit at a bar and taste all the various whiskey. John - our guide helped us change our itineraries and he turned out to not only know more about Scottish history than... More

Spent a day in the enthralling company of Hugh, the walking Wikipedia of the Highlands! Initially we had booked the whisky tour but we decided to change to the Isle of Skye tour and were happy we did as this really gave us an impression of the vastness and eerie beauty of Scotland. Hugh is talkative, cheerful and has an... More

We recently travelled to Scotland as a family. The day spent with Ian was a highlight for the five of us including 3 teenage/young adults boys. There was something for everyone. Ian even gave us very good advice for the rest of our trip. We saw and learned more in that day than we could ever have on our own.... More
