It has been a year since my husband and I toured the Highlands with John and we are still thinking about the wonderful time that we had with him on his tour. Our daughter and her boyfriend had taken a tour with him the year before that, so we knew that he was terrific. He is so knowledgeable about Scottish... More

John is a charming and knowledgable tour guide. We could ask him anything about his homeland, and he knew the answer. We spent a lovely misty day in June touring Glen Moray, Glen Grant, Abelour, Glenlevit, and Walker's Shortbread. John also took us to some special sights including a Pictish Stone and a lovely spot on the Spey river. He... More

Honestly, I had looked up John as a last resort since my husband and I were not able to take a regular bus tour during our time in Inverness because of the time of year (I know, late December in northern Scotland, who'd have thought?). However, it was certainly the best part of our trip to Scotland, and I suspect... More

Amazing views, great company, super knowledgeable guide all added up to a most excellent day in the highlands for three McDonald cousins. There is no doubt John loves his country, family and career.

My two cousins and I booked John for a tour to the Isle of Skye and the MacDonald Clan Centre. Our day with John was fantastic! He is extremely knowledgeable about all things Scottish, and we particularly enjoyed his telling us about the local history of Scotland as we drove through various glens and villages. He was able to give... More

My wife and I recently went on a two week trip through England and Scotland. We ended the trip with a four day stay in Inverness, and capped that off with an all day trip to the Isle of Skye with John leading the way. I can honestly say that when people at home have asked us what our favorite/best... More

It's taken me a while to write this review, but better late than never as they say. My husband and I had a wonderful, personal guided tour with John MacDonald. We wanted a Scotch Whisky tour on a specific date and John was very accommodating. He personalized the tour for us based on our interests and made great suggestions and... More

There is a reason why John has no less than a 5 star rating from everyone who has reviewed him. John was friendly, humorous, very personable, and had a thorough knowledge of Scotland, its history, and its people. He is far and away the best tour guide we have ever had. John was fun to tease, and if you want... More

Our guide was John MacDonald. What an informative and interesting fellow he was. He picked us up at our hotel and made us feel very welcome in Inveness. I had booked him months earlier and he always replied promptly to emails and questions. The car was comfortable and he is a good driver. There were plenty of stops along the... More

Thanks for such a great and quick review. I'm delighted you enjoyed the Highland and Skye day tour as much as I did and it sounds like the following day at Rogie Falls - one of my favourite stops - and the trip back down south went well. More
