If you are booking to go on this trip make sure there is nothing else happening in Aviemore. We booked on Thursday 21st August to travel on Saturday 23rd August for the Lunchtime trip. No one informed us that a massive bike rally "Thunder in the Glenn" was taking place at 1200 that day. Even if we could have got... More

Excellent trip out on this train . We paid for an upgrade to 1st class which was well worth it, the kids thought it was fantastic traveling in the 1st class cabin, we got coffee and shortbread and orange juice for the kids ( very good coffee). We got to go on to the engine when we stopped at boat... More

A journey on the Strathspey Steam Railway is a delightful day trip for any visitor to Aviemore and Scotland's Cairngorms National Park but it is a "must" for those who are fans of the BBC Drama "Monarch of the Glen" set in this region of the Highlands. The train and the station at Broomhill (end of the line currently) featured... More

We really enjoyed our trip on the train. We had Sunday lunch, well worth the money we paid. The staff we lovely and so good at their job. It was nice to get out and walk around the station and take photos. Everything was well organised. Hope you get your extension to Grantown.

Definitely a must for all little and "big" kids. Great journey with fantastic scenery, lasts about 90 minutes and the dog can come too!

We upgraded to first class compartment so had this to ourselves and it was lovely but expensive. The journey is okay and lasts about an hour and a half. The train is really old fashioned and was a pleasant way to spend a couple of hours.

My family will visit my Dad once a year and make sure we go on the Train. My little 1 is only 20months and slowly getting in to the whole experience without really knowing what's going on. I love it and all the old fashioned stations. Hopefully the extension to Grantown will go ahead and make for an even more... More

From the minute we arrived our visit was superb! Every member of staff was helpful, considerate and enthusiastic! We travelled on both steam and diesel trains and the scenery, the journey and the experience were first class! The icing on the cake was being taken to the shed by a young lady where Paul showed us round the signalbox, the... More

The train trip is nice. The food is good. But do you want the spend your money on a diner which is serviced in a factory process. We expected a longer train trip, instead of three stops and the same way back. Why not make it a round trip.
