Why not upgrade to First Class to enjoy a meal in one of our compartments, finely decorated in it's own tartan, with vintage British Rail mirrors and luggage racks inside.Split your trip up with a visit to Boat of Garten to explore some fantastic walk trails or bring your bike on board to explore the great cycle routes in the area. We went with 4 adults, 1 child and 2 dogs. We were made to feel very welcome and enjoyed the day. Our son loved the train. The staff were very friendly.

Worth doing the afternoon tea if you fancy a treat - otherwise grab some sandwiches and a bottle of wine and enjoy the view.

Had a lovely trip on a sunny day from Boat of Garten to Broomhill then Aviemore for a look before travelling back on the train. Great journey through spectacular scenery.

Good preserved railway. Lovely trundle through the Scottish countryside with excellent views. The Fat Controller seeing the train off was a nice touch.

We loved it. Last time we did it during Easter Brake, It was great. There was a quiz for kids, and Easter Egg waiting at the end of it.

Great day out wonderful scenery, breaks where you can get off the train for photo opportunities. Good value for money and... More

We chose the Highland Dinner onboard the Speyside steam train. For those of us who grew up with train sets, the chance to meet an engineer and fireman, take a quick tour of the engine, and then board the train to the strains of bagpipes by a piper in full regalia... it was like a quick trip back to childhood...
