Having seen the Cairngorm Reindeers deliver Santa in Aberdeen. It was lovely to learn some more about these intriguing animals.
Our children have had reindeers sponsored for them by their grandparents since they were born (17 & 14 years ago). On most of our Scottish visits we go to the Centre and when available visit the herd on the hill. Simply, there is no other comparable experience in the UK and if you are in Speyside or Aviemore in particular... More
We popped in to see the reindeer at the Caringorm Reindeer Centre. Due to the adverse weather, our plans to visit the herd on the hillside were abandonned but the centre brought out the centre-based reindeer to the front and we all had a chance to meet them and feed them. Even better, on our next visit we can upgrade... More
Only visited the paddocks but it was great to see the reindeer. Would go back for the tour and you are given a voucher for £12 (cost of paddock visit) that can be used at any time if you book the guided walk. Worth a quick half hour stop or so.
Good fun for kids. Very informative about reindeers. Father christmas house :-) Good interaction with the reindeers and easy to visit.
Visited at Christmas after visiting the herd in the summer many times. Great, love it! While winter visits are limited to the paddocks, this does still bring kids up close and personal, though I did prefer to see them out on the mountain. Team there are pleasant and helpful. Really nice.
Many thanks for your nice review, glad you enjoyed yourselves! However, while there are reindeer in the paddocks to see too, we still do the guided tours up onto the mountain in the winter daily at 11am. They are weather permitting, but it is only very occasionally we have to cancel the visit when the snow gates are closed on... More
The Cairngorm Reindeer Centre was one of the highlights of our traveling around Scotland. The reviewer who judged the Reindeer Centre on the paddock (which is for injured or ill animals) missed the point. It's not a zoo, thank goodness. Visitors who go on the hill walk get to walk among the reindeer (which about a mile from the road)... More
Thanks for your review, and we're glad you enjoyed yourselves. Nice photo of Magnus enjoying some hand-feed! Just a quick note to point out - while we can put ill or injured reindeer in the paddocks if need be to make life easier for us if they need treatment, most of the time the reindeer in there are completely healthy.... This is ok for a flying visit. Can not comment on hill trip as we only visited the paddocks. Was nice seing the reindeer so close to christmas but really 15-30 mins is proberly the most time you will spend here. Nice for the wee ones though.
Spent a lovely few hours at the reindeer herd on Christmas eve ! When we arrived we were told the trips up to the reindeer on the hill were cancelled due to the strong winds and snow, so bought tickets to the herd that were in pens at the center and were told if we go back within the next... More
Thank you for your lovely review! We're really glad you enjoyed yourselves, even though we had to cancel the hill visit due to the awful weather making it, quite simply, unsafe to take anyone out onto the mountainside! Just a little note to anyone reading this - if you join us on one of our guided tours you will not... More
