Type: Nature/ Wildlife Areas, Outdoors
Owner description: Visit Britain's only free-ranging herd of reindeer in their natural environment. Follow your guide as they lead you up to the reindeer's mountain enclosure. Once there, your guide will tell you all about the reindeer and you can walk amongst them, stroking them and feeding them by hand.Don't fancy the hill trip? For those less able, from Easter to New Year, we have a small group of reindeer in the paddock at the Centre itself. For younger visitors, there is a quiz, you can make your own badge, or make an antler headband.

We have just arrived home and feel compelled to write this review right away! We had a fantastic day here and would have no hesitation to recommend this trip to everyone, it's was the best day ever according to my 6 year old who was given a wee bunch of reindeer fluff by one of the herders, she is delighted... As we had visited the Funicular Railway you get 20% off the entrance here if you go within 7 days and show your tickets. We opted for just the paddock not the 11am trip to see the herd. I thought we could probably still stroke a Reindeer in the paddock. Unfortunately that day they weren't feeling too friendly and didn't... More

Many thanks for your review, and I’m glad you enjoyed meeting the reindeer. Hold on to your paddock entrance ticket as it will enable you to upgrade to a hill visit ticket next time you visit, and only pay the difference in price between the two tickets (you will need to visit again within 12 months though). In general visitors... More

Great few hours out on the hill with a lovely if blustery walk up with Zak! Luckily we are used to the great Scottish mountains so were well prepared for the cold and wind, several layers and hats, scarves, gloves required & salopettes/waterproofs a bonus! Zak was very well versed in the history of the reindeer and some of the... More

Well with the hike to see them up the hill, very friendly creatures loving the attention. Great information from the guides also answering plenty questions. Would return again and again

Lovely 20 mins walk up to the reindeer - slightly steep with steps in places - one is able to feed the reindeers and see them at very close quarters - it is a magical experience for young and old.

four of your herd came to Aberdare Wales today for the Christmas fair. I am appalled. These beautiful creatures were listless heads down and scared. Shame on you. And your from Scotland! How many hours have these poor animals been shut up in a cattle truck. For what three hours of standing being stared at by the public. Whilst a... More

Thanks for your review. However, I will correct you on several of your, somewhat dubious, points. Both the reindeer herders with the reindeer team at the Aberdare event were female, so I have no idea who you spoke to but it was obviously no one with any direct connection with the Cairngorm Reindeer Herd. There was at least one herder... More

We stopped on the way back from the mountain railway, As someone who has a fascination of reindeers then I loved the idea of being so close, sadly the walk was not available so decided to go into the paddock, for £3.50 what do people expect??? I loved it, yeah it's not the best but I still loved it and... More

Popped into the centre to check out the paddock and luckily had arrived in time to take part in the trip up the mountain side to feed the reindeer. Followed the tour guide in the car to the superbowl car park and then continued on foot. Guide gave plenty of information and answered all questions. Highly recommend this experience!

My family visited the Cairngorm Reindeer for the second time this summer and found the experience as enjoyable as last year. The reindeer are all wonderful characters and very soft, feeding them by hand is very relaxing. Well worth the money. I am about to renew the adoption of one the boys for my wife (she is in love with... More

Unfortunately too late to go up the mountain to feed the herd - but given the weather anyway, we contented ourselves with visiting the shop and the paddock. Get up really close to some of the herd, inlcluding some cuddly looking calves - not to mention a bunch of mallard ducks who looked to be really at home in the... More
