I was in George Square on November 21st and the city workers were getting it all ready for Christmas. The tree was already lit and the ice-skating pond was under construction. This place is the very heart of Glasgow. If you don't know the city, you'll find everything you need around the Square's perimeter--from the ubiquitous Gregg's bakery to the... More

If in Glasgow you have to go here. We were there when they raised the Christmas tree so we could not really cross the whole square. BUT the statues here and the square itself are really nice and interesting.

Nice small, busy square in the very city centre of Glasgow with the Gallery of Modern Art, statue of duke of Wellington and city chambers nearby.

Beautiful architecture around the square and very nice statues on the square. Very clean and well maintained, nice place to take a break and chill out. There are some nice stores and places to eat nearby.

It is a must see place for all the tourist. Especially very well decorated during the christmas time with large christmas tree and amazing lighting. I really enjoyed sitting on one of the benches with friends during the long dark cold evening. MUST SEE

As someone who has never been to Glasgow before I was somewhat surprised to find such an impressive looking square in the heart of the city. Clean, open space surrounded by some fine buildings including the City Chambers. The square itself has a number of statues but you really need a guide to explain who they are and their relevance... I attended the 'Hope Over Fear' rally, it was a fantastic day, Glasgow hospitality at its best. Really well organised and policed.

George Square is the heart of Glasgow. The imposing City Chambers, the cenotaph and much more. There is a real buzz about this place. You can sit and watch Glasgow walk past you.
