This is just such a famous iconic centrepiece of the city of Glasgow and somewhere that anyone can visit and spend 5 minutes or 5 hours watching the world go by and the diverse range of people passing through However.......when will Glasgow City Council ever stop the seemingly ongoing works and just leave it alone, totally spoils the square that... Lively & surrounded by impressive buildings, not least the magnificent City Chambers. The Square is definitely worth a visit & very close to the main shopping & dining areas including high street shops of Argyle St, more upmarket Buchanan Street & designer shops in Ingram Street plus all the bars & restaurants of Merchant City.

I lived in Scotand for 3 1/2 yrs, and Georges Square was one of my favorite places to go. It has the uncanny knack of feeling intimate and private, while still feeling public and bustling!

We Glaswegians love our square, its a good meeting point, its a place to sit and watch the world go by and its especially nice in the sun. I'm looking forward to the next indy rally and the day when we can rename it Freedom Square. Saor Alba x

The square is pretty iconic, a meeting point and site of many a protest or gathering over the years. More recently, Glasgow City Council seem to see it as a commercial site, and as such are constantly messing around with putting up or taking down major construction - may that be the Christmas market and funfair, concert staging, art fairs... I was in Glasgow for the World Piping Championships so a number of Piping Live events were held in George Square. It's a lovely place, surrounded by great architecture. It is a short walk from Buchanan Street, so if you are in the area, definitely check it out.

George Square is the place to be when its sunny in the summer (which never happens). Stand in the middle of the square, take a few minutes to look around you and you definetly feel like you are in the epicentre of bustling Glasgow.
