The place to see and be seen. On the square is the City Council offices. As well as many statutes including Robert Burns (Scottish poet) and Sir Walter Scott (writer, playwright, poet) and several others. This is a very busy square with many ad hoc things going on. From here one can easily walk to the Glasgow Cathedral, the University,... More

Its the centre of Glasgow, a square like most other cities have with an array of restaurants, the Italian centre for posh shopping & posh restaurants. The Counting House on the corner us good for reasonable excellent food & drink as well as enjoying the architecture inside and out.

Relatively quiet (given its location) open square to relax a bit and check out the surrounding buildings and walking public. Very near The Z Hotel (where we stayed), and convenient to all kinds of shopping and restaurants.

A lovely place to just sit especially if it's a nice day. We got a good day and took sandwiches to have lunch out doors here, unfortunately it was spoiled by young student types sitting nearby smoking like chimneys and casually throwing their litter at pigeons!

So close to Buchanan Street is the nearby located George Square. What struck me right away where the monuments one at each end of the square and one in the middle. I guess those are the real highlights of the location. There are plenty of seating possibilities around the whole square and quite some people use the possibility to do... More

George Square is at the heart of Glasgow and hints at the citys former importance within the British empire. A host of grand buildings and civic monuments, statues, and a cenotaph give it an impressive look. It really is a nice place to wander on a sunny summer afternoon, and makes for a welcome break from bustling Buchanan Street.

It was alright to walk around. Lots of shops and restaurants close, it's very central. Don't go just for the square, visit it while looking at other things in the area.

George Square its probably one of the most well maintain squares I ever saw and its the heart of Glasgow. Conveniently located just a few meters away from one of the main train stations, its a nice place to stroll and watch people coming and going. Its as well a good place to find restaurants late at night and where... More
