The barras are an institution in Glasgow, the place has lost some of it's mojo but it's still a nice Sunday destination.

When I lived on Glasgow I was a regular at the barras it has one of the best butchers in Glasgow. Took my kid to candy crunch where staff were very patient with her. There are still a lot of unusual little stalks that you don't get on the high street. It does have the illegal tobacco paddlers, sign of... More

Fag smoking stall holders, rude and abusive service especially the old women selling old tat. Scary place watch you dont get mugged. Just pointless, it needs pulled down.

After reading many reviews here it's sad that people are slating the Barras market. The common denominator is that people reviewing seem to say that the decline is evident since the last time they had visited, 5 years earlier 2 years ago etc etc. but in fact they are too blind to see that's exactly why there are less stalls... Sorry but this was just awful. Too many scruffy rough looking stall holders trying to sell rubbish a antique prices. On the plus side if you are patient there are occasional bargains to be had.

A great place for a good old rummage! We didn't stay there long but it was worth a browse. I liked the fact it seems to be stuck in a time warp.

Spent an hour here one Sunday morning. Couldn't really see anything that different from any other market in the UK. Same cheap clothes stalls. Did find a nice sweet stall in the covered area that sold lovely sour plooms and pan drops! Interesting historical site.

We hopped off and very quickly hopped back on what a laugh it was really a car boot market, I think we were expecting something on the lines of Newcastle Quayside or Camden instead it was really bizarre however you could buy anything there boxes of drinking straws for 10p? not sure if they were old clothes or vintage but... I go here quite regularly at the weekends to have a rummage around the stalls as you never know what bargains you could find here. The little cafe on the corner is also reasonably priced with decent chuck on offer. As other reviews have said, alot of the nostalgic atmosphere has left due to the gradual decline of the site...
