Fossil Grove, located within Glasgow's Victoria Park, houses the fossilized remnants of an extensive ancient forest. Discovered on the site in 1887, the fossilized tree stumps are thought to be more than 300 million years old. Housed in a small corner of the attractive Victoria Park in the west of the city, the fossils are open to the public from noon til 5pm, April to September

Amazing park with play area for kids, ponds and so much wild life to take in. The fossil grove was closed when we visited therefore cannot comment on it, but we were greatly surprised to come across two ring necked parakeets while visiting the park. This is a must visit park, you will not be disappointed .

The park is nice although they no longer operate the boats for hire on the pond. The highlight of the park has to be the Fossil Grove, Glasgow’s own prehistoric fossilised trees, still situated where they were found.

I was there with my friend just before the Commonwealth Games to see the baton being handed over. Also had a walk round the pond where people were using remote controlled boats. Has a good swing park for children.

When the weather is in favour, a nice park for all age sets. There is also a play area for kids, tennis and basketball courts, football/rugby pitch and a pond with swans, ducks etc.

What a great place! This park has something for everyone. Now there's not many places you can entertain the kids for free these days- get yourself down there for a fab few... More

Having not been for a walk round Victria park for a while, when a nice sunny day happened I went for a stroll round park. The fossil grove used to be a place to let your imagination run wild with its trails and beauty. Now it is run down, dirty, unkept, there is no water in the pond which were... More

We came especially to see the Fossil Grove, and were treated to a terrific tour by the guide: pointing out all the fossils, a browse through the thick album of old photographs and postcards, and samples of fossils to handle showing bark and leaves from 300 million years ago. I love the fact that this is authentically in situ —... More
