Fossil Grove, located within Glasgow's Victoria Park, houses the fossilized remnants of an extensive ancient forest. Discovered on the site in 1887, the fossilized tree stumps are thought to be more than 300 million years old. Housed in a small corner of the attractive Victoria Park in the west of the city, the fossils are open to the public from noon til 5pm, April to September

Victoria Park has become a family favourite due to the free, yes free, putting and lawn bowls. The wee pavillion beside the bowls/putting provides bowls and putters. They also have a few basic tennis rackets but i recommend you take your own and they also have a couple of basketballs they lend out. We have spent hours with friends and... More

This is a nice place to go with the family, and dogs for a lovely walk. There is a play area for children which is decent, ample space for the dogs to run around, and lots of places to explore. There is the fossil garden which was open but personally I just wasn't impressed! It's a dark room with tree... More

My visit was unaccompanied by staff, but would have been improved by the presence of more knowledgeable tour guide available for that purpose at no charge. Nonetheless, a visit to the fossil grove is a most atmospheric and beautiful experience during which the visitor feels (or at least I felt) that the remains of trees living millions of years ago... I love Victoria park! It's great for all ages! However the pond does need more attention to paid to it! Great for a stroll or a run! Good kids park! Nice variety of birds and ducks 😊

We went mainly for the Fossil Grove but it had closed on 18th October, despite a sign at the main gate saying it was open 10-4 daily. Despite this the park itself and the general area around the fossil grove was lovely to wander around on the only bright sunny day we got in Glasgow. No car park but there... More

A very pleasant park for an amble on a summer afternoon. However, the fossil grove is an amazing place to visit both for adults and children. Well worth a visit.

Nice park located near to the Clyde tunnel. The park itself is reasonably kept but can be spoiled in areas by litter. The fossil grove is good and unique where you can see 300 million year old trees and the type of insects that lived amongst them.

This old quarry in the west end of Glasgow houses a uniquely preserved fossilised forest. Unbelievable and rarely visited. Last time I went it was 50p it's probably free now!

I was amazed to find this with a friend and also surprised that so many local had never heard of it. A must if you are interested in old (I mean prehistoric age) things and a must for children to experience. That the city of Glasgow made such an effort to preserve and protect these 11 fossilized tree trunks was... More

I am thrilled we persevered with the erratic FirstBus '4' service to get here. (The info on Firstbus own website and on their own bus map - as well as info the tourist info centre has is all wrong....in terms of bus stops it stops at, timings and prices!) Anyway in spite of all that we were so very glad... More
