Pollok House was one of the highlights of our trip to Glasgow. People should not be put off by the fact it's not in central Glasgow - only a couple of stops on the train and well worth it. Full of period furniture and some beautiful paintings. Lavish, beautiful and atmospheric. The staff are enthusiastic, knowledgeable and exceptionally helpful -... More

Having scanned the previous reviews, I can't believe the reviewers were at the same house we were! Our experience was the total opposite to theirs!, We found the staff very warm and polite, quite happy to welcome us English NT members. the house is fascinating, full of beautiful art and other exhibits. We enjoyed a leisurely snack in the restaurant.... More

A lovely day out. Fantastic views, walks suitable for all, lovely gardens. The only thing I would say is that it can be difficult to get a table in the restaurant if you don't book or get lucky when you arrive, but this is due to its popularity. We frequently go here and love it every time.

Whilst visiting Glasgow for the Commonwealth Games in August 2014 I thought I would visit a Scottish National Trust property as a National Trust member it wasn't a great introduction. I am so glad I did not have to pay for this visit as that would heap on even more distress on me. The person on the admission desk was... More

After reading the information about the house in the National Trust booklet we decided that it would be worth a visit. We could not have been more wrong. We had a short guided tour of the house which was no more than ok. - the guide seemed to be rushing us through and kept saying this was only a short... More

We spent a short time visiting on our way to the airport after a good 6 days in Glasgow. The house is impressive and the mix of rooms seen is good, with the entranced hall being particularly impressive as are the servants quarters, although not in their original usage. The garden is quite pretty and it was a pleasant break.... More

I love old historic homes so made time to see Pollok House during our 2 night stay in Glasgow. The house is in a gorgeous setting and wonderfully restored. There are 2 floors and a basement but with the exception of the Spanish art, not much to see. The whole tour took us about 20 minutes. The cafe in the... More

Just returned home after a fab trip to Pollok House. What another fine example of country parks and stately homes Glasgow has to offer. We had booked for lunch (and so glad we did as was very busy) We were welcomed by Louise and Robert, who were very friendly and extremely knowledgable. We then had a delicous lunch (Casserole was particularly scrummy) and also... Personally, I love Pollok House. I love stately homes, Downton Abbey and Jane Austen novels and this house is a chance to see what it was to live as Glasgow aristocracy. The grounds are beautiful and if you're lucky to get a nice day you can walk for hours around the estate. The house itself is interesting. When you go... More

What has happened to the scones at Pollok House cafe? They used to use the old, classic 'Dough School' recipe and were totally delicious - all buttery and crisp with a good salty taste. I went today and was so disappointed. The scones have maybe been frozen then defrosted before being served? Pale and completely tasteless, like eating old cardboard.
