The original bridge over the burn on the 18th fairway is one of my favourite memories of the many rounds I played on the Old Course while growing up in St Andrews. It's as amazing to see as you think! Iconic, must see for any keen golfer! Hint: if not golfing visit on a Sunday when the old course is shut except for walkers, you can really appreciate the whole coursr without avoiding flying balls!

Tip: anybody can do the shot, if nobody is around, we played, and although we could not get a group shot, all got the shot on the bridge we wanted.

If you get the chance you can not miss out on the chance of a lifetime to get your picture on or next to the Swilcan Bridge. To stand where all the legends of golf have stood in the past is not to be missed and can be ticked off your bucket list.

It was the crossing used by fish-wives when they pulled their small carts with fish from the boats in St Andrews harbour to the county market in Cupar - thought to be around 700 years old. All the modern greats such as Palmer and Nicklaus stood there to be photographed on their final round at the end of their golfing... More
