A piece of history

This is the place to visit if you are interested in the history of St. Andrews. The garden is worth seeing when it is sunny.

This is an excellent small museum which goes into depth regarding the town's past, and has a second-to-none collection of photographs of the town from way way back. Very well run, and very friendly, nice bits and pieces to buy too!

Stumbled across this museum whilst on a day out in St Andrews, the girl who welcomed us was fantastic - very knowledgeable and welcoming. Loved all the artefacts and the old apothecary display !!! Beautiful gardens and lots of interesting activities !!!

If you are visiting St Andrews put this little gem of a museum on your itinerary it is well worth it. Free entry and well informed volunteers to answer any questions, there are interesting displays and photos to do with life in the town in bygone days. The garden is lovely and there are plans for new developments.

Worthwhile visiting to get impression of St Andrews history. The museum also has other information and walks you can take in the area. Staff friendly and welcoming. Great garden and with free entry it's a good way to spend an hour on a sunny or rainy afternoon. It is close proximity to other attractions such as the castle and cathedral... More

St. Andrews is world famous as a golfing resort and the location of Scotland's oldest university. Its mediaeval centre is worth visiting in its own right, and the city's location surrounded by sweeping sandy bays and rolling hills is superb. If you want some insight into what life was like for those living in such a place over recent centuries,... More

This museum was very pleasant. It was a beautiful set up of the types of shops and every day life that once occupied St.Andrews. The staff were very welcoming and informative. It has a beautiful garden to sit in with some more interesting history. The opening hours were between 2-5 pm so if you get a chance when in this... More

I enjoyed to stay there, have a chat with the, more than helpful, guides, visit the shows. And I enjoyed also to take the sun adn read a book in the inner garden, that is a part of the museum, so quiet... it seemed to me to stay in a friend's home, nice indeed. And I discovered Cynicus, great!
