We had supper in the pub located downstairs from the meeting point, it was a good meal and convenient for the tour (just a side note for planning purposes). We were easily able to find the tour meeting point and joined the group. The tour guide opened the program with several unprofessional political jokes directed at the US, which I... More

I had a great evening on the literary pub tour led by Dave and Mark, who were two fantastic actors. There were quite a lot of breaks, but the city was overcrowded due to the Festival and tattoo. This tour is a great introduction to Scottish literature, the actors were very engaging and entertaining. Some cultures might not understand the concept... More

In amongst all the dramas and shows of the Fringe Festival is this genuinely brilliant and fun experience. Instead of becoming just another sheep led in just another tour group, you have the chance to get to know interesting people and together you can all amble happily along to some incredible watering holes with two very passionate and professional guides.... We had Keith and Simon. They were wonderful. Funny and knowledgeable. My wife, in-laws, and I spent a fun evening walking about Edinburgh and listening to great stories and having a couple of drinks. We also met a few interesting people on the tour. We unanimously agreed that this was the highlight of our trip to Edinburgh.

In my opinion, the advertisement and brochures totally misrepresent what this tour is about. To me, it was a major disappointment. I was expecting two actors in costume, not regular street clothes. From the start the actors seemed confused, as if they had been recruited at the last minute to fill someone else's shoes (maybe those actors still had the... More

Recently was in Edinburgh and really looking forward to this tour. I got my reservation ahead of time at the Tourism Office near Waverly, arrived at the meeting point outside the Beehive at 7:15 p.m. as instructed...and not one person arrived. No one in the pub had information. After a hike back to the tourist office, they told me they... More

Great tour, good acting, awesome pubs...what more can you ask for! I had no idea there was so much literary history in such a fun city.

This Pub Crawl around Royal Mile was done very professionally by two very good actors. Learned a lot about the likes of Burns, Walter Scott, RL Stevenson and Brodie. The pubs chosen were excellent and historicaly important. Strongly recommended

If you have a thirst..... for Scotish literature then this is your pub crawl. Well acted and interesting even for those not familiar with the works of Scot, Burns, and Steveson.

Great way of spending evening and learning something new and interesting about Edinburgh and its writers. The two actors gave fantastic and enjoyable performance, debating the intellectual and bohemian side of the city. Poetry was included and even an attempt at singing (very good, actually) was part of it all. Lovely pubs were visited and some local and not so... More
