A lovely beach for going for a walk. There were lots of people taking dogs for a walk and enjoying the beach too. It was an easy walk to the main street if you want to get food before or after going for a walk. If walking in the sand isn't your thing, there's a wide multi-use path that runs... More

We were here last week. For October Edinburgh has been very warm and we had a beautiful long walk, along the pier or promenade in Portobello was so clean.

Fantastic! Travelling solo to Edinburgh for the first time. Portabello is a great place to base yourself with a good bus service into the city centre every few minutes. A very relaxed atmosphere and beautiful beach.

My friend and I cycled to portobello beach from the centre of Edinburgh, it was a great cycle and took approximately 30 - 40 minutes. Its the perfect place to go when it is nice weather and makes the cycle nice too. I'd recommend spending an hour or 2 at the beach and there's lot of cafes, fish and chip... More

I went in February and it was a bit cool, but not crowded. I thought it was a nice beach with good sand that stretches far and wide. It was busy with locals walking, families and dogs. I've heard its very crowded in the summer months. The shops along the high street are good with a decent choice of cafes... More

We walked from our hotel to the beach, just 10 minutes and was pleasantly surprised to find somewhere so lovely. At 10.30 Sunday morning it is still quiet with the occasional dog walker or runner. The view is stunning and it was so relaxing to sit on a bench and look out to sea. There are several eateries, the one... More

really enjoyed a stroll along the promenade beside the beach.I am not one for frolicking in the sand and left that to folk much younger than me but lots of folk enjoying the place. It is a lovely place in the summer sunshine and plenty of places nearby to enjoy a coffee or a beer.

I visited portobello in a not completley sunny day. If you want to relax and have a nice relaxing walk take the bus and go to it. The beach is really worthy and nice to be visited.
