I had no idea how scary this would be for my boys, aged 6 and 8. They're not usually easily frightened, but when the lights went out their imaginations ran wild. More funny than scary for the adults, with a little audience participation, but I'd have enjoyed it much more if my children weren't terrified! The ride at the end... More

First things first these are not genuine historic dungeons of the town, but made mostly of fibreglass as a fully commercial entertainment venue. So don't expect any historic interest in the buildings or authentic artifacts. Great fun for kids if not the nervous type, might need change of underwear for them if they are. Very enthusiastic, interesting and amusing acting... More

Absolutely fantastic attraction. Highly recommend. We went to the dungeons on spur of the moment after seeing a poster for it in the tourist information office next to Waverley station. And was I glad I did as if you buy tickets for this attraction from tourist information office after 3pm you get your tickets half price. Last performance is 5... More

Basically this is an 80 minute tour with about 10 stops where actors act out supposedly scary scenes. In effect it is anything but scary, not funny and an utter waste of time and money. The best example is 'the boat ride' which lasts 10 mins during which you move about 20 feet in the dark, listening to a recording... More

Hello, thanks for your comments. We're sorry to hear you didn't enjoy the experience but appreciate that not everyone gets and enjoys what we're about here at The Dungeon. We'd like to correct an inaccurate point in your review - the boat ride is not 10 minutes, more like 4. We would encourage any guests to check out our website... More

We recently visited the London dungeons so had high expectations for the Edinburgh attraction. It certainly did not disappoint and even though they expectedly shared a similar format, we enjoyed learning about Scottish stories instead. You can get offers for this - £6 off entry prices on the back of bus tickets or 2 for 1 entry with an online... More

Very good, really funny - kids might not understand some of the Jokes. Actors are fab. Is a bit creepy. Went with my 10 year old brother who did get a little scared, but not enough for him to want to leave. He liked the wee ride at the end and he found the mirror maze amusing. I wouldn't advise... Hello and thank you for your review. Great to hear you enjoyed the experience. We don't recommend for children under 8 but younger children do go round and have a great time. We always recommend booking in advance online. We regularly change parts of our tour and develop new shows so it is defintely worth visiting more than once. Our... More

We recently visited the York Dungeon and that was good but this far exceeded it. The quality of the acting and the sets that have been constructed are great. It is actually quite a scary in parts too! (I would think carefully if taking young ones there as there were bits that frightened some children when we were there).

Hello and thank you very much for our 5 star review. We will send this to our lovely colleagues at York! We don't recommend the Dungeon to children under 8 but it is at the parent's discretion as some younger children love it. More
