Eat walk Edinburgh offer two Foodies walking tours. One explores Edinburgh's Old & New towns and the other the lower half of the Royal Mile called the Canongate. On each of these tours you will visit unusual/hidden restaurants, bars and shops, taste dishes specially prepared for you. Sample individually selected drinks (beers, wine and whisky), talk to the chefs/owners and discover the history behind the properties. The Old & new town tour (1pm-4.30pm) which has five food stops with two wine tastings and a single cask malt whisky tasting ensuring you will not need to worry about dinner in the evening. The Canongate tour (10am-1pm) enjoys six stops including a Bloody Mary cocktail and breakfast canapes to get the tour off and running. By the end there will be no need for lunch. The Old & New town tour was recommended in BBC Good Food Magazine as a "Don't miss" thing to do in Edinburgh. Delicious magazine also has it down as a must do.

We did the Old/New town tour on our first evening in April. The weather was on our side ! Brilliant & enjoyable tour with lovely food & drinks + it helped us get our bearings for the rest of our stay. We had stated that 1 of our group was vegetarian on booking - unfortunately, Hotel du Vin had completely... More

Well, 6 guys from Germany coming to Edinburgh for a weekend. Great nights, but what should we do during the day on Saturday afternoon. No Rugby or Footie in town, so we decided to go for Alan's Eat & Walk tour - and it was a huge success. Interesting stories to get some insights into the towns past and present... More

I bought this tour for my partners birthday and I can happily say we were not disappointed. We had no idea what to expect but it definitely exceeded are expectations. I wouldn't only recommend this to tourists enjoying their stay in Edinburgh but also to people closer to home. We are from Edinburgh and found it a new and interesting... More

We went on this tour as a surprise for my birthday that my husband arranged for us both. We like our food/drink and a bit of exploring so this tour was perfect for us. We were ever so lucky with the weather as it added to the experience. We arrived at the hotel where we met Alan and the rest... More

We did a similar tour to this in Barcelona at New Year so were really looking forward to this one and we weren't disappointed. It had a more formal feel to our previous experience, with our guide Julie, who was very professional issuing our group with mini audio equipment to continue her explanations of the sights and history on route... Hi Thanks for taking the time to write a lovely review I am glad you enjoyed the tour. The headsets are good when walking between venues to hear what the guide is saying allowing people to walk at their own pace or stop to take phots. But usually we encourage people to take them off at venues so there is... More

Like many other reviewers we did not know what to expect, but it turned out to be a really excellent evening. I recommend very strongly that you do the tour early on in your visit - it will give you lots of ides for the coming days. Alan was great - he was clearly very proud of his city and... More

Hi Thank you for taking the time to write a review it is greatly appreciated, I am glad you enjoyed the tour and felt the layout of the stops meant that the walking was broken up with the food and drink tastings. So we cover a good part of the Old and New Towns of Edinburgh without tiring ourselves out.
