One explores Edinburgh's Old & New towns and the other tour the lower half of the Royal Mile called the Canongate. On each of these tours you will visit visit unusual/hidden restaurants, bars and shops, taste dishes specially prepared for you. Sample individually selected drinks (beers, wine and whisky), talk to the chefs/owners and discover the history behind the properties. The Old & new town tour ( 2pm-5.30pm) is the original tour which tastings ensure you will not need to worry about dinner in the evening while the Canongate tour (10am-1pm) takes care of lunch. The Old & New town tour was recommended in BBC Good Food Magazine as a "Don't miss" thing to do in Edinburgh. Delicious magazine also has it down as a must do. « less

My wife and I and two friends had such a wonderful experience and without hesitation, recommend this unique tour. Alan was our guide - he was very knowledgable, patient, and attentive.

This was an informative and delicious experience! Our tour guide Julie had extensive knowledge of Edinburgh past and present. It was great that the history of the city was tied in with the stops where we ate. From spicy haggis to creamy gelato, we got to sample such a huge variety of Scottish produce. All the food we tasted was... More

I really appreciate you taking the time to write a review,on the Old and New town tour, thanks. Glad you enjoyed the tour and thought there was a good amount of food and drink. An earlier reviewer said they didn't "get really full" they are five food stops where starter size portions of food are served. People have mostly written... More

Would definitely recommend the tour to individuals as well as to all sort of groups. Very informative, nice guide, tasty stop-overs and a good way to start exploring Edinburgh before you go off alone. We got to know a lot of different places that we checked out after the tour on our own.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review it is greatly appreciated. As you say the tour is worth taking at the beginning of your stay to ensure you have time to re visit places visited and suggested on the tour. It also helps get your barings in Edinburgh making it easier to navigate on your own. More

Our tour guide Julie was delightful, she is very knowledgeable. The food was delicious too. Very very good, especially the haggis. Just a couple of things though. The website and confirmation email all say that the tour is 3 hours long, maybe a little longer, but plan for 3 hours. This turns out to not be true. Julie says no... More

Thanks for the lovely review, I have amended our website as there was one page saying 3 hours and another 3-3.5 hours. The tour lasts at least 3 hours but I have now amended to 3.5 hours to cover for it over running. Yes if people in the group are enjoying their time at each stop it can go onto... More

Highly recommend this tour. Unlike other food tours I've been on, you actually get to sit down and eat and have a drink with your group at each place. Several lovely establishments - 5 I think, with great food at each. Places I would never have found. Although a food tour, I also learnt a lot about Scottish history and... More

Thanks for the great review. I agree the tours success is not only the food, drink and sights but often how well those on the tour mix. Alan More

From the very beginning of our efforts to set up a tour with Eat Walk Edinburgh we had a terrific experience. Alan was always responsive to our e-mails and inquiries long before we made it to town. We found the hotel where the group was to meet where we had a beverage in the upstairs bar. Alan came and found... More

Can not recommend this enough! We only had 2 days in Edinburgh and this was the perfect introduction to the city from a great, knowledgeable and friendly guide! Great food, come with an empty stomach! We had breakfast, then the tour and didn't really need anything else. Alan the guide was also able to give us lots of recommendations for... More

We did the Eat Walk Edinburgh tour with Julie in July 2014. It was the highlight of our trip. When we booked, we thought that we would be getting a culinary tour of the city but we got so much more. We visited 5 different restaurants and ate several Scottish foods: oat-crusted herring, blood pudding, pork cheek, haggis/neeps/tatties, and cranachan.... More

The stops were so well chosen with an opportunity to sample whiskey, eat lamb rich haggis, charcuterie and other delicacies. The tour leader was friendly and knowledgable. For the best experience, probably come on a near empty stomach so you can eat everything from the six stops. I'll do it again.
