We have been on food walks in SE Asia, but never in the UK before. We visited 5 places, with drinks at all and food at 4. The guide Alan told us about Edinburgh as we walked between the venues, and answered any questions. My favourite stop was the Scotch Malt Whisky Society, even though I am not a fan... More

Three of us did the "walk eat Edinburgh" tour as part of a 60th Birthday celebration. Although we are all from Edinburgh originally we found the content very informative and the whole experience throughly enjoyable. The food was lovely, service slick ( Alan phoned in advance to give an estimated time of arrival) in each restaurant we had a friendly... More

Visited Edinburgh for the first time with my mum & decided a guided start to our visit might be a good idea. After a shaky start in the Du Vin (which was acknowledged by all parties to be service issue- Du VIn staff), we set off with Julie around the city listening to her rattle off alll number of facts,... We signed up for this tour in January when we were in Edinburgh to celebrate my birthday. We absolutely loved it! It was great that Alan showed us around even though it was just the two of us. And even though it was a private tour we really appreciated the plug-in ears that Alan gave us. This way we could... More

Hi Thank you for taking the time to write a review it is greatly appreciated. I am glad you enjoyed the tour. I fully understand your comment about the French cheeses, but I do think the wine bar in an old Scottish church is a hidden gem and would be missed by most visitors to Edinburgh. Alan More

My husband and I booked this tour for an afternoon in early April, the day following our arrival from the USA. This was our first visit to Scotland, and we wanted to get a feel for Edinburgh as well as a chance to sample food and drink with somebody who knew the city. Alan was the ideal guide, pointing out... Hi Thank you for a lovely review it is greatly appreciated. The tour does cover 2.5 miles but with stops every 15- 20 minutes along the way the with seating this breaks the journey up. Once a tour is booked we guarentee the tour to go out but often find it is enjoyed better with others so do offer the... More

On a visit to Edinburgh for my fortytenth birthday we decided to do this tour. Julie our guide was very informative as she guided us through the history of this famous city. I personally loved the whisky tasting. The food and drink you get is varied and well presented. Just wish we had taken the tour earlier in our break.... More

Hi Thanks for choosing an Eat walk tour to celebrate your birthday, I am glad you enjoyed the tour. It is a good point you raise about doing this type of tour in the early part of your stay. It then gives you a chance to go back to visit some of the establishments again or other places we recommend... More

I conduct Int'l Culinary Tours and am a chef. This was my first visit to Edinburgh with a friend and my 18 year old daughter. We loved every single minute of the tour from the history, the sightseeing walk, and of course the food and drink samplings. I savor both memories and morsels. I too enjoyed Le du Vin wine... More

Hi Thank you for your review it is greatly appreciated. I am glad your daughter and yourself enjoyed the tour. Did you choose someone who doesn't like whisky on purpose to join the tour? All the more for you. The cheese and wine plus the whisky stop are most people's favourites on the tour. Alan More

Great trip and would advise everyone to do it. Staff are amazing and not only do you learn so much but you get the chance to eat and drink different types of food and drink and also see the heart of edinburgh. Well worth the money and our trip would not have been as great without it.

Hi Thanks for your lovely review I am so glad you all enjoyed the tour. I have to say I have a soft spot for good wine and cheese. Le Di Vin is a French wine bar but I feel it can't be left out of a food tour of Edinburgh as it's a great location and they serve good... More
